If you don't agree that's fine everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm sure she appreciates the advice about looking out for them as they are a little younger than would be ideal however, I think we should be happy for her and her new arrivals, help her if she needs advice in the future if she does have any problems whatever they may be and look forward to the future picces as they get older.
It's an internet forum, people have differences of opinion and so long as it doesn't become personal/abusive (and I've read no abuse on here) then people can and will post their opinions as they are entitled to do so. If people don't want to hear other opinions - simple, don't post.

Debate is part of forum life as so long as it stays within boundaries, why is it bad? And why should someone start a different thread just because their opinion may not be held by the OP and other members?

I'll have to read back through, but I don't think people were badmouthing you. They were instead badmouthing the breeders who seem to have sold you some kittens who are younger than they claimed. It seems to happen A LOT. People round up quite liberally because they want the kittens off their hands. It's no slight on you, it's no slight on the kittens. They are absolutely adorable. But it is something that you should be aware of, simply because they might have some lingering behavioral problems (although nothing too terrible and they do have each other, so you shouldn't have to worry about them shredding your hands and the like) and because they might be too young for certain vaccinations, which could put them at risk if they are done too young. The vet should be able to help you with all of this. At the end of the day, everyone just cares about the wellbeing of your new owners as you are now the proud slave of those sweet balls of fluff

Re: new kittens are here

Hope is there no way the breeder will take the little ones back for a few more weeks until they are 12 weeks?

As I said above you could offer to pay for food, litter and even pay for and take the little ones for vacs yourself ... returning them to their breeder afterwards.

I just dont get all the negativity towards people that either knowingly or unknowingly get kittens that are younger.
I know I didnt know it wasnt in a kittens best interests to be rehomed before tha age of 12 weeks before I joined this forum.
In some countries, it is common knowledge or even law. In the UK, it is very common for kittens to be rehomed between 6-8 weeks (I know it doesnt make it right).
Why attack people that take these babies in, mostly from BYB, and if they werent rehomed I dread to think of the outcome for them.
I have a hard time seeing how it is attacking people just for pointing out that they are doing something wrong. Should we all just go awww what a cute little kitten you have there, nice job depriving it of it's childhood!

You think if you go on a pregnancy forum and declare that you are smoking whiles pregnant, that people respond nicely?

And how are things ever going to change in the UK, when people who are seemingly responsible pet owners care less about their kittens development? (The information is out there – google is your friend) Would it not be a good idea that a public pet forum like this, keeps on stressing the importance of not removing the kittens to young!

The people that take in kittens from BYB (I am guessing this means Backyard Breeding) are just contributing to the problems. It is the same with kitten and puppy mills – ignore them! But you know that already...

If you are inexperienced you are probably not going to know if they are telling the truth on their age or not.

I got Willow too early - I didnt know that until I joined here. I have 2 new babies coming, and unless I had the advice of people on here they would have left mum too early too. It is only because of advice I got here, that I talked to the breeder, and she agreed to keep them til they were 12 weeks old. She has even joined ZooPlus and ordered a load of Bozita and AC because I told her thats what I would be feeding them. She had never heard of those brands before.

I realise not everyone is so lucky to find a breeder that is so open to new ideas and beliefs.
I just dont get all the slating of people that get kittens too young - especially if they the breeders have lied to them
The bit I have highlighted in red You refer the male/female to be your breeder. I am guessing they are a byb, if they didn't initially want to keep the kittens for 12 weeks? And if you had to educate them about food that almost confirms they are not a registered breeder. People who byb or have accidental litters shouldn't be called breeders. That word is usually reserved for registered breeders.

I wouldn't call them breeders, I would call them something else (unpleasant swear word). grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr People would do well not to get their kittens from these byb's. It's a bit like wearing fur, if you buy it you are encouraging the mistreatment of animals.

To the OP, your two kittens are adorable looking and wishing you many happy years with them. But they do look to be 6 weeks old MAXIMUM!!!!!! Posh house or not, they sound like byb's, wanting shot asap.

Re: new kittens are here

Love the names Darcy & Bailey and your kittens are gorgeous.

I got my kittens at 9 weeks from CP and although their eyes are green/orange they always came up blue in photos (and still do sometimes). I wonder if it is like human red eye?

Wishing you many many happy years together x
