Sleepless night

Does anybody else ever have completely sleepless or sleep deprived nights because of their cats?
Last night I went to bed about 11pm, couldn't get to sleep for an hour or so because of my little kitten running around in the room above me and kicking a ball against the wall (shes tiny but sounds like an elephant!). Then about 1am I get woken up by my other cat, who did everything possible to wake me up including trying to pull pictures of the wall and climbing on me to get onto the bed headboard.
So I put out out of the bedroom and shut the door, blissful sleep then for all of about 3 hours when I got woken up again by the same cat crying and scratching at the bedroom door.
Let her in and got an hours sleep until I got woken up by the kitten again crying for her breakfast!
So at that point I got up and gave up on sleep. Now i'm shattered!!
Please tell me I'm not alone in this.....

You are not alone

Though to be fair on Molly, she isn't anywhere near as bad as she was when she was a baby! We had at least 3 months of sleepless nights

Nowadays, her night time routine is as follows ...... we go to bed, turn all the lights off, she comes in the bedroom jumps all over us to get onto the bedside cabinet, she tries to climb up the headboard to get the picture above my head. She then knocks the lamps switch on the floor, then tries to get up on some drawers higher up the cabinet! After being told off countless times, she then jumps off the cabinet and disappears for a while. She then decides it's cuddle time she settles in between me and the OH, eventually finding a position she likes When she is ready she jumps off the bed and settles down by the bedroom door More often than not she will come for another cuddle through the night, but she doesnt mess around

Re: Sleepless night

Nope, mine are locked downstairs for that very reason - I need my sleep and I need to be able to function to do my job.

Exactly the same here! At night, my 5 have the kitchen/diner/conservatory to themselves and DH and I have the bedroom. Occasionally, I might let one sleep on our bed, but that is quite rare.

Re: Sleepless night

Yes, my downstairs neighbours had many sleepless nights
We met them a few weeks after moving in (the first time the boys had been around stairs) and they thought we had dogs! They were really surprised to see two cats and horrified to learn they were still growing

We ended up moving to a ground floor flat. Personally I don't have a problem sleeping through their shenanigans, unless they jump on my sleeping body from the roof storage or try to smother me...

Re: Sleepless night

Sleepless nights!!!! i had more sleep when my children were little.

11 they were upstairs with me last night!!! they have to be in our room because of the dog. 4am they started messing about and 4.15 i was downstairs this morning!!

I'm delivering a 2 day training course today and tomorrow. Early train journey then stood up for most of the day, today I am really tired! I walk in and both of them are fast asleep charging their batterys for later

Re: Sleepless night

It's rare (but not unheard of) for me to get a totally sleepless night, but it's fairly normal for me to have disturbed nights. The worst nights are the ones where Sam isn't tired, and spends the night "yelling", clawing the furniture, crashing around, using me as a trampoline, etc. The best ones are where he arrives, announces his presence with a little "miaow", walks over me to get to his food, then walks back over me, and miaows at me again to wake me up properly so I'll get in a position where he can snuggle comfortably.
