Re: Grey rep recieved as I had to rehome Tigger

Wouldnt worry, new members dont add or take away from your actual rep points, whether it be a positive usual green rep or a negative usual red rep.
It does acknowlege what they thought and any comment but regardless it always appears as grey. Still nice they think the help is worthy of rep though.

Someone tried to red rep me for a naughty word about the rioters (even though I found a post of theirs using the same word and they didnt put as many stars in as I did) and called me foul mouth to boot, but it didnt detract from my rep points

Could this be one person with a grudge posting under mulpiple new accounts? I'm quite new here but have seen this happen on other forums. Don't genuine new members generally settle in a bit before immediately going for the jugular - and don't they usually post on "nice" threads as well as the contoversial ones?

just an observation - could be totally wrong
Think they are reffered to as Trolls, just come on forums to make inflammatory posts and cause runctions. Its a sort of a hobby.

To be honest ive been on the site a while and never seen a thread regarding reps and problems with it.

I understand that and, if what others say is true, that this person seems to have joined to stir things up that's not very nice (and worse for you if you are a target of their displeasure). I just think rise above it as posting their name in the open forum could be seen as antagonistic to them and while you and others may feel they deserve it, is it really worth it?

I saw your other post about re-homing and it has been a hard time for you on and off the forum (with lots of strong opinions on both sides), I would be avoiding drama at all costs if it were me (but then, I am a big fat coward)

Thanks - I'd worked out how to do it just before you posted this, our posts must have crossed, but thanks for the link

Yes and, as I'm sure we've all seen, one was in court recently:
BBC News - Facebook internet 'troll' Sean Duffy jailed

Not everything these morons post on line is anonymous and many of them go too far. What sad, immature lives they must lead to get their kicks making other people miserable on the internet.

I've just noticed a lot of them here the past few days, that's all - new accounts that morning and a rash of offensive posts within hours - bunch of saddos!

He now lives ten doors away from me with a lovely lady and her other cat. I am able to visit when I like and I am sure he will be well looked after.
The only reason I was thinking about the future is that I was just hoping there may be a small chance that in years to come we may be able to have a cat in our life again which may not set off any allergies as not all cats cause this reaction in my boy. It was quite clear the cause of it to be honest with you.
