Re: Stroking Your Cat-How Tolerant Are They?

Scamp likes being stroked on his terms, particularly the ears and face, he will have a tummy rub but you have to be doing the head as well

Arnold doesnt like to be stroked, he likes chin and ear rubs though and hates being picked up. He has to sit with you though, normally with a paw on you

Leo likes a cuddle, but he is very busy with his kitten business a lot of the time so he normally comes and flops next to you and meows to let you know he wants a fuss.

Lottie is the cuddliest, she is the least confident so she seems to just need the extra cuddling. She climbs up on my chest right under my chin bless her or cuddles right into my arm and goes to sleep.

Prudence likes to be stroked - but on her terms! When she has had enough, she stomps off as if to say 'I have some important things to do, if you'll excuse me'!!

Love her though x

Mr Kane loves being stroked and will move away when he's had enough.
He will lash out if you try and touch his tummy though so I avoid that area.
He can be picked up but normally trys to get down after a couple minutes.
I think I've been lucky with him as it's been years since he last tried to bite or scratch me.

Fabulous responses! It amazes me how different one cat can be from the other and yet I think of the amount of people who are not cat lovers that say all cats do is eat, sleep and poop and only want your attention when they want something. I can't deny they do ask for your attention when they want something but they all show how much they love you in other ways too

I could not believe my luck last night. Jaffe came up onto the bed purring his head off demanding to be stroked then rolled onto his side, grabbed my arm, curled himself around it and went to sleep. I think I fell in love with him a little bit more after that it was so lovely! I just hope the affection carries on after we go home! I told my OH about it this morning and I think he was a bit jealous as he has never asked him for affection unless he wants feeding o when he comes to say good morning to him :P

Fuzzle is 10 months old and I think he just wasn't used to me as he hasn't swatted at me since when he has come for a cuddle instead he suckles on my armpit and falls asleep which is quite sweet but does leave me with a great big soggy patch on my top Oscar used to be my little cuddle monster and a very good pillow to cry on growing up (he is 16) he would always come and find me for a cuddle if I was sad but I just think he is a bit cranky and athritic and I think he gets a bit sore if I stroke him for too long. If I stop stoking him though he will just curl up on my lap and go to sleep. Bless him.

I feel a bit like the pied piper at the moment. Jaffe follows me everywhere and is my silver shadow and since I've been staying here Where ever I go Jaffe goes and where ever Jaffe goes Fuzzle will follow.

btw MCWillow love the poster and thanks Emma for the welcome. I am loving being on PF. I finally have people to talk to who don't think I'm a fruit loop about being a cat lover and wanting to share my stories

Re: Stroking Your Cat-How Tolerant Are They?

Icco is a complete tart. Barring when he's eating/sleeping/running riot, he's not happy unless he's in physical contact with at least one of us. He even gets in the bath with me on occasion, and is getting very good at perching on my shoulder when I'm pottering around the house (though he won't be small enough to do that for much longer!)

Frankie isn't a lap cat but loves to be stroked, he loves his neck rubbed and scratched too. If I stop for a split second he'll be pawing me to carry on

Re: Stroking Your Cat-How Tolerant Are They?

rumble enjoys being stroked, and will often jump on my lap and settle down for a stroke, but he isnt very tolerant at all really. Even when he is purring his head off and clearly enjoying it he may try to bite me a second later so i have to carefully watch him for his telltale signs. I suspect he is going to be a big softy in a year or 2 though.

Re: Stroking Your Cat-How Tolerant Are They?

Molly loves to be stroked Every evening without fail she will climb onto me, trying to get under my chin and lay there for ages being stroked.

The only place she isnt keen on is when you try and stoke her belly ..... then you will get a swift scratch or bite!!!
