Re: would i be a bad person

Nope, not at all.. But rescues are notorious for wanting to wrap all their cats/kittens in 80 layers of cotton wool before sending them out. You can add wanting to keep the cat indoors/not having a garden/living near a road/having children to their list of excuses aswell... And I thought I was paranoid!

The breeder of my Maine Coon had TWO big *scary* German Shephard dogs that freely mingled with all of her cats.

Re: would i be a bad person

I don't know much about dogs so take this with a very LARGE pinch of salt but I have heard and my neighbour across our road who owns one said that german shepherd dogs are very territorial and don't accept new animals on their patch.

I'm surprised that the rescue people would say that in such a rude manner to you

Re: would i be a bad person

I have a gsd and a gsd cross and 2 cats I did foster a little kitten fir a while and they very protective loving and patient with it in fact it used to boss about if you think your dog has the right temperment then i dont see why you shouldn't be able to have a kitty only you know your dog is like no one else and they shouldn't make judgement on any breed

i think it often depends on the dog....
at our old house odin sat at the bottom of the garden for 45minutes refusing to come in i went to see why and he had found a kitten he was just licking her ...
and now where we live the cat from next door often lays in the garden and odin just walks around her and carrys on with his business lol

Re: would i be a bad person

What a load of tosh. You would only be a bad person if you knew that your big ,scary, untrustworthy German Shepherd was going to eat the kitten.I took a kitten into the house with an adult male Afghan Hound in it .He licked the poor kitten till it was soggy Some,in fact most rescues appear to have some very strange idea's.You know your own dogs temperement and I'm sure you would not consider having a kitten if it was likely to injure it.
