I miss them already!

I just took my babies to the cattery as I'm going away on holiday this evening. I've been dreading taking them. They've never been away from me for longer than a day and a half. They have been to the cattery several times before but only for a night each time. I keep worrying that they'll think I've abandoned them forever! I took a few of their toys with them and a couple of blankets. I really miss them! :-(

I also keep thinking "what if someone breaks into the cattery and steals/poisons them or they escape." I know I'm being OTT but I love my babies so much! I might have to phone up later in. The week to check they're okay.

I know how you feel, I can´t imagine leaving Merlin in one, I keep thinking he will think I have abandoned him (he is adopted).

Re: I miss them already!

Maisie spent two weeks in a cattery & she was fine the same Maisie came home ((if a bit smelly)) she's off their again in three weeks for just 11 days, I know she will be fine. I leave vet details, emergency numbers, our mobiles etc she went with her bed, blanket, toys, cat nip spray, treats. The cattery even plug in a feliway to help the cats stay.

They will be fine I promise

Re: I miss them already!

The first time my boys boarded I was really worried about them. They were going in for almost three weeks and the poor little guys were only a bit over 5 months old. I liked the place as it was the breeder I got them from but I still stressed and fretted all through my holiday I came back and found two very happy, much bigger cats who were still thrilled to see me but not stressed. The breeder had obviously spend a lot of time with them and (at my request) her small daughter had as well. I was so relieved and pleased to have them back though Now I still miss them but I'm not constantly worrying about their welfare. Also helps that she emails and texts me updates

I just worry a lot. I´m scared he might get depressed or won´t recognize me when I get back. So for now not contemplating holidays.

Cats are far from stupid

I honestly didn't give it that much thought when we went away, just made sure I liked the cattery set up & owners, I've never heard of a cat forgetting it's owners & home within a couple of weeks

I will be in a hopefully 'sunny' Spain three weeks today
Will I miss my pets....a bit yes... will I be glad to come home & give them all a squish definitely
