Smile Scratching Posts....

How much would you be prepared to spend on a scratching post?? I am on a limited budget so any suggestions on where to obtain a post at a reasonable price?

I knew Lidl had some but in my 3 local branches - they were sold out and B&M had some but are waiting for stock to come in tomorrow but cannot guarantee Scratching Posts will be in their delivery

My 8 week old kitten, has taken to using my bare leg as a post -ouch !!

Re: Scratching Posts....

I bought this one when my Ragdoll was a kitten and he still has it, and more to the point uses it now at 19 months old.Big Foot Cat Scratcher by Karlie | Pets at Home
Zoo plus also have a great range Cat Trees & Cat Scratching Posts on Sale Now at Zooplus .Try to buy the best you can afford now as it will last into adulthood, kittens do grow very quickly so I would avoid the cute kitten size and get a strong sturdy one.

Re: Scratching Posts....

If you're looking for something cheap, our cats all like scratching "flat" as well as stood on their back legs and reaching up. We buy heavy coir mats, which are cheap, very hardwearing and give the claws a good workout, and they love them.

Re: Scratching Posts....

Zooplus, as already recommended by Buffie do a great range of scratchers for fantastic prices - much better than any pet shop on the high street.

When Merson was a baby, I bought a 3-tiered scratching tree. It was £70 at the time but, as it lasted for 10 years, I figured that £7 a year was excellent value for money.

The replacement I got from Zooplus was only £60 and is much better quality.

This is the one we got and Abby loves it. She is always on it. The boys, being older, use it for scratching but don't bother so much about clambering over it.

Re: Scratching Posts....

You could get a cheap small kitten one for now and then keep an eye out for when Lidl next have them or when Zooplus have a good offer on (they look expensive but they have really good sales so sign up for email alerts from them ). Also, ebay is worth a look too for cat tree bargains. Or pet shops at markets...er...don't know where you are but some right bargains at the Barras in Glasgow!
