What?????? What do you mean "unwanted gift". How old was the kid 1 or 2 I presume!! Heck my daughter is 8 and I have to stop her from constantly playing with the cat and kittens because she loves them so much especially when they are having a nap. Older children know the meaning of a pet is for life not just for birthdays and Christmas.

I can understand it and I would rather the animal was rehomed if a babys life was at risk if the mother felt she couldnt cope with watching the cat 24/7 around the baby

But if you had those worries and still loved the cat and obviously baby then you would make changes like cat proof the home so not to resort to rehoming. I know from personal experience that having a baby is stressful to a cat so we had to put Buster on the feline equivalent to prozac lol! but I still loved him

What is sad there is surely she knew she was pregnant when she homed the kitten, If your worried about cats and babies then dont get a kitten simples

I read that ad as kitten saw me through the wait for baby to be born. Purpose served goodbye cat!!!
