Can anyone would be kind enough and explain it tom me? 1l of water/1kg. 1l of Oko would be around 0,5 kg? Thanks
I think most cat litter is about 1kg = 2 litres, so your 7kg bag should be about 14 litres.

You could test it for yourself by putting a measuring jug on your kitchen scales, zeroing the weight, then filling the jug to the 1 litre mark with cat litter. The scales will tell you exactly how much 1 litre of cat litter weighs.

Thumbs up Re: Cat Litter - Clumping, Non-Clumping, Supermarket?

I use Thomas Cat Litter - £3.09 for 8 ltrs - which is not too bad. I only got an 8 week old kitten 2 days ago and she seems to like it....

Re: Cat Litter - Clumping, Non-Clumping, Supermarket?

the only trouble with some clumping litters and i say some is if it contains bicarbonate of soda. if it does and the cat's paws get wet for some reason then it will stick to their paws and they could digest it.

Oh, and we have 2 trays. One is a big deep one and one is smaller & shallower although the latter is being replaced next week with another of the first one.
Laughing!

I think your cats - Merson and Oscar - and my two - Simon and Adrian - must be quads separated at birth, all too posh to pee outside (never mind poo!)

I use a crystal, non-clumping, dust free litter. Its bloody expensive, but lasts for ages, doesn't track and doesn't smell very much. Two litter trays, filled to about 4cms, cleaned thoroughly every two weeks and a full change of litter every two months. When we go back to the UK, I'll have to revise this though and look for a less expensive option. Infact I want to do some research on LitterKwitter........

Re: Cat Litter - Clumping, Non-Clumping, Supermarket?

Well, after a few days of using it, I am quite pleased.

Here's the low-down:
  • The 40L bag is quite big. Bigger than I thought it would be.
  • I put quite a lot in (well, 3/4 inches deep).
  • Tracks about the same as Asda's Tiger litter.
  • Smell is a significant improvement.
  • It's easy to get the poo and wee clumps out and put the unsoiled litter back in.
  • Clumps very well indeed.

I can see it lasting a good amount longer than the Asda Tiger litter, but at double the price, I am still not entirely convinced/converted, but yes, very impressed so far.

Re: Cat Litter - Clumping, Non-Clumping, Supermarket?

I use the crystals which are sold by Home & Bargains for £2.29 a bag. Supposedly, one bag lasts one cat for a month. I find it is a little bit less than a month more like 3 weeks. It has superb odour control and only starts to smell when it needs to be changed.

When you come back to the UK, find a Home and Bargains, they do a good crystal cat litter for half the price charged in most major supermarkets.
