Battery Operated Water Fountain

My kittens are only 4 months old and have chewed through the wires of two Cat Mate fountains. Despite me having cable protectors on the second one. And spraying it and surrounding area with a few different types of repellents to keep them away.

After 3 weeks without the fountain they are simply not drinking from the static bowl and I am worried about their water intake. I have googled but not found a battery operated fountain anywhere. Didn't realise it would be that difficult. Am I being stupid or does such a thing exist? I want the kittens to be healthy and drink water but I want them to be safe too.

Re: Battery Operated Water Fountain

I have my water fountain on a unit in the kitchen where they get fed, it is right next to the plug socket so I can put the wires behind the fountain where they can't get to them. Is this a possibility for you? Also, have you tried getting a replacement cable instead of buying a whole new fountain?

Re: Battery Operated Water Fountain

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the second one was a replacement pump. But it did not work. So it must have been the bits on the powersupply that were the problem. So bought a new one of them too, thinking when the pump does finally go then at least I'll have a spare. But they chewed through the wires of both (and the cable protectors) the second time.

Also, they splash the water everywhere - have great fun with it. Except by definition as it was mains powered I then had water sloshing aournd near electricity. Just though a bettery operqted fountain would solve both problems in one swoop - but can't seem to locate one.
