Henry is a genius :)

Well, last night Ragnar decided to give us all a scare and go on walkabouts (or make that runabouts, as he took off down the road and got pretty far, damn his eyes. He just jumped the fence, as he heard something he wanted to check out and took off. He's never done it before and we have a flower box on the lowest part of the fence as it's the only part he could even hope to scale.

We had no idea he had done it, but here's the really amazing thing--I assume at the moment he raced past the front window, Henry started burbling and ran around in the floor. He's ordinarily a pretty laid back cat, so we wondered what he was on about. Turns out, he was trying to tell us something was wrong! I'm so proud of my little guy.

All's well that ended well. After about an hour's search, Ragdoodle came running back to play with his little brother Kelso. Our walking through town calling and shaking his leash and waving biscuits about didn't work. Taking Kelso out did. All were happy to have the crazy blue dog back home.

I also saw the most beautiful kitten on my travels. She was far too young to be out at that hour, so I think I might have to go back and check on her--we do have strays in the neighborhood, so she might be the result of some June litter.

What a smart cat, could it be there were two reasons for his "burbling"

She was several blocks away, so he couldn't have known she was there--but he does love other cats! He always has. He likes to sit in the window a talk to strays. He's quite the charmer--he lured about 4 or 5 different ones on our porch where we used to live.

She was lovely, though. Fluffy, pale tortie (I'm sure there's a real name for it, but she looked silver/soft blue, pale ginger and white by the street lamps) and probably about 4 months old.

Too easily, I'm afraid

The scary part is OH doesn't seem troubled at all. And we were just discussing his plans to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I said we both know that he'll come home with something at some point. He just smiled.
