Re: I'm annoyed couldn't get cat in cat carrier....

Thanks for all the words of wisdom and posts that show solidarity to the kitty cats that have an aversion to the carrier lol! Well.... its 4.16pm and Fluffy is no where in sight! The vet is a 2 mins drive away so she had better get her fluffy bum home soon. She normally gets fed around 4 so she's probably sulking under a bush somewhere.

Our appointment is 4.50pm. If she doesn't show up I might just call it a day and leave it until Saturday morning for the drop in session and my OH can get her in the cat box

Re: I'm annoyed couldn't get cat in cat carrier....

Right, this morning Fluffy arrived for her breakfast and as soon as she finished I locked the cat flap, went round shutting all internal doors so she was marooned in just the hallway and stairs, got a nice soft fluffy towel to line the cat box and enticed her inside with some tuna (her favourite!) quick as a flash I shut her in!! She is now inside, on my bed. My appointment isn't until 10.10 but at least she is inside!

Re: I'm annoyed couldn't get cat in cat carrier....

The kittens came running out of the living room, up stairs and onto my bed and there was Fluffy in the carrier, glaring, growling and hissing at the kittens but at least she could see them and smell them

awww poor fluffy - how undignified for her lol

i keep my carrier in the front room and it occasionally gets used as a bed,
to get them in it i put it on the table with the opening at the very edge. then pick cat up and put inside. this way there is nothing for them to push on and they have to go in the carrier

Re: I'm annoyed couldn't get cat in cat carrier....

Everything went fine at the vets! She had her 2nd vaccination. Trouble is because she was found abandoned there is no "history" about her. We don't even know if she's spayed The vet looked for a scar but couldn't find one but she's quite fluffy (short haired but lots of fluff) hence her name so the only way to truly find out is by waiting until she displays "in season" behaviour or by opening her up. I'm open to any other suggestions to try to decipher if she's been done. I really don't want the pitter patter of tiny paw prints!

She is very healthy with good teeth. I asked if she was overweight as she's twice the size she was when we found her but the vet said no she just looks like she's been eating good food.

Need to give her half a worming tablet tonight. I'll get my husband to do that. He's got the "technique" down pat

Edited to add: The cat carrier is kept in the conservatory at the moment and the kittens have been using it as a bed because I want them to get used to it from day 1. They also like to play in it and use it as a kind of hide and seek toy. Perhaps Fluffy didn't like going in it because of the kittens scent. I did spray it with felliway about an hour before use but didn't seem to make that much difference.
