Re: Ragdoll Advice
Yes its true that most raggies haven't got much up top shall we say and shouldn't be outside, but from working as a re homing coordinator for many years I have seen many raggies that are used to going out and want to be outside and seem perfectly alright to go out, but many of these have had homes right in the out back where there is hardly any traffic(mine are all indoor ones though with supervised access outside only),it really depends on the cat and what they are used to, if they are let out from a tiny kitten then they soon learn how to live outside regardless of their breed. On saying that it really does concern me that this raggie is being kept outside for very long hours, raggies live to be with their humans so this raggie must be very distressed having to stay out for that long, also the fact that his friend raggie has been killed by a dog
. I hate to think of the state of his coat poor baby, in the kind of whether we have been having, he would be more prone to fly strike Identifying and preventing flystrike - FAQ - - rspca.org.uknow I know most of you are thinking surely not that only happens in rabbits but we have been seeing an increasing amount of cats and other pets with long fur suffering from it, if not caught earlier enough the maggots eat the cat and sometimes its so bad that for the animals own sake it is kinder to put them to sleep. Like others say if this poor baby hasn't got the 5 freedom acts somewhere suitable to live a proper diet, including fresh water the ability to express normal behaviour for any need to be housed with, or apart from, other animals protection from, and treatment of, illness and injury. then the RSPCA should be informed. Animal Welfare Act - What have we changed? - Changing the law

Re: Ragdoll Advice
Also just to add I am very surprised he hasn't been stolen by someone if left out for that many hours, they are very lucky that he hasn't gone missing

Re: Ragdoll Advice
Thanks everyone - due to have a chat with ChinaBlue today.
I am in a very difficult situation as over the last year he has gradually become more like my cat than theirs. Originally he came for human contact and I avoided feeding him as I know you should never feed other people's cats. BUT when you know the owners are out (or even away for the weekend) and clearly the cat is starving (I know the difference between REALLY hungry and just being cheeky after a treat!) I have to admit I have folded and opened a tin of tuna. As I said in my first post, there is a lot more to this story and there is no single crime, just an attitude towards animals that I do not agree with. I dont believe they are MIStreating their animals, just not treating them like royalty as most of us would ![]() Thanks again |
