help required

hey guys i've been feeding my kitten 9 lives tuna with cheese bits, the one which says 95% real tuna wet food since 2 weeks but now i'm a bit concerned because i found out that tuna isn't safe for cats as it is high in mercury, so just wanted to know if it is safe to feed my kitten that.

Re: help required

I'd be changing the food pretty darn quickly to something that's nutritionally better. Animonda, Bozita, Grau and Smila are all good, but if you want something readily available, then go to Pets at home and buy Nature's Menu or Pets at Home Purely.

Hope this helps

Re: help required

Don't just feed tuna as the only protein source and she should be fine. In fact, getting them used to changes in diet (chicken today, salmon tomorrow, rabbit the next) is good for them (unless of course they have an allergy or sensitivity to a particular source).

I hope someone else comes along to comment on diet changes and the gradualness they recommend. For mine, I just started them out with switching from salmon to chicken to lobster/beef etc from the beginning and they've never had an issue. I know some cats don't take to it so well so I don't want to be cavalier about that process.

Re: help required

If you want to stay with 9lives... never heard of it before today so dont know how good it is...... then they do poultry, beef and fish selections in the fish selections they do other types of fish as well as tuna so there is plenty of other flavours in this brand of food for you not to just feed the tuna one.
