When is the right time??

I've been in touch with my Breeder since I had my 2 BSH kitten's and she has told us about a little girly who will be ready in approx 4-5 weeks, my hubby is happy to have her, and I agree that it is best for my little girl and Salem. My daughter is really struggling with losing Gloworm, and nothing I say is making her feel better but I don't want to feel like I'm replacing Gloworm as that would never happen. However it may be good for Salem who is missing his brother and my daughter. What would you do??

Re: When is the right time??

If you feel its right then go for it.

Obviously this new kittie isn't replacing Gloworm - he is irreplacable and will always have a special place in your heart.

If it was me I would take the new kitten, it will help Salem and your daughter, and it might help you too

Re: When is the right time??

go for it if its what you want, all this stuff about replacing is silly. you cant really replace the pet. you just bring a new one into the family.

Re: When is the right time??

Go for it - it's a good way to grieve actually - you aren't replacing just moving forward.

Re: When is the right time??

Yeah I will definately take some pics when I go up to see her :-) we've not said anything to my daughter yet, and even though I'm not ready myself I know it's best for her and Salem

Re: When is the right time??

I think it's a good idea. It will be good to have something else to focus on and another bundle of furryness to give your love and attention to. You may not feel ready just now but you may feel different once you see her. Also it is still another 4-5 weeks away til she is ready to leave and a lot can happen in that time. Everything takes time and everyone takes different amounts of time to grieve. I'm sure Gloworm would want you to be happy and offer the love you did to him to another deserving kitty.

Re: When is the right time??

I'm going to sound harsh here but is this from the same litter as your other two, because I would maybe wait until you get your PM results as it could be something genetic, did your breeder do all the relevant health checks, as I still think it's a possibility that Glo had fit causing him to fall as I just think it's unusual for a healthy kitten to fall a relatively short distance and cause such injury.

Re: When is the right time??

I agree with all the above if it feels right, then do it!

When I had to have my Timmy (R.I.P) pts I got my Frankie a couple of months after, I knew Timmy could never be replaced and would always have a place in my heart and I would never ever forget him, that will be 3 years at the end of this year and still miss and love him as much as I did then.

My house felt empty and souless without a cat and getting Frankie filled that and helped me I love him to bits

I'm sure getting this little girlie will help you, your daughter and Salem

Xx
