Talking Another kitten? (pics added)

Willow cries if she can't find me so I just said to OH that I hope she doesn't cry for long when I go to work

Then he said 'thats why she needs a companion'
I thought I was hearing things - I thought I would have to bring up the advantages of another one - I was just biding my time!

So anyway we have had Willow 2 nearly three weeks now, she is beautifully settled, very affectionate etc.

I am I going to upset the applecart if we get another kittie in the near future?

Re: Another kitten?

Well played! my husband is the same! I thought i would really have to work on him but he was the one who said bring both kittens home as they will need each other I dont think these blokes are as tough as they make out you know my mum always said if you want something doing or getting you have to plant the seed to make them think it is their idea then sit back and watch it occur!

Re: Another kitten?

We did exactly the same thing. If you've never tried to integrate cats before, the first few days can be quite daunting. There was a lot of hissing and fighting. But two days later and they were the best of friends. We didn't do any of the slow integration techniques though due to their young ages and just plonked them together from day one (supervised at all times until the hissing stopped).

Re: Another kitten?

We had a kitten and was then given a new kitten (someone had found her) - they were about a month apart in age. For the first few hours, the older one was a bit put out, but the little one persisted and by night they were sleeping together and the best of friends. Since then, I think it's good for them to have companions, so I say go for it.

Funnily enough, it was OH who said that we would keep the new kitten...I wanted to keep her, but kept quiet until it was 'his idea'!

Re: Another kitten?

Looking right now
Decided to rehome a rescue, although whether we will pass the homecheck I don't know - we live on a houseboat, so public access to the other 7 boats on the moorings through our garden - I won't let Willow out and will be building a cat run, but a lot of the cats say 'need outside access as they love the garden' etc....

Re: Another kitten?

Update - OH wants a NFC - he has been looking tonight and found NFC cross Raggies ready on 22 Oct.

I am still going to see a little black fluffball at a rehoming centre tomorrow while he is at work (yes he knows ) - so maybe we will end up with 3 - or is that just too crazy??

Space: - its not a small houseboat - we spent the last 2 years building it from the hull up - I remember when it was a pile of steel ready to be welded Big enough for 3 cats - I don't know coz they will be indoor cats with an outside run in the garden (the ones I have been looking at cost more than the summer house I am getting!!)

Time: I work Mon-Thurs 9-5, OH does shifts, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off - so never more than 2 days on their own for 8hrs - although it could be better, it could also be worse - I think in almost 3 weeks Willow has only had 2 full working days on her own.

Funds: Boat being lived in, house sale completes next Friday (at last!)
