Hi all,
I am new to this site and registered to ask you all for help and advice. My wonderful 3 year old Norwegian Forest Cat escaped from our house in Berkshire 5 days before we moved abroad(18th October). She was supposed to go with us and I was looking desperately everywhere for her that week. I spoke to every shelter, vet and other pet organisation I could lay my hands on in the area and nationawide, but we could not locate her. The day after we moved she was seen and then we were concacted by a lady who thinks she saw her yesterday around 2 miles away from our home. Our cat is very easy to spot as she is very unusual - a typical norwegian forest cat with strong back legs and shorter front legs, beautiful tabby and white markings with white chest and paws. She's not friendly with strangers, but we love her and at home she's the most affectionate and cuddly sweetie. We have everything set for her return - she's fully insured and chipped and we have pet relocation people on stand by to take her out to us. I have all my neightbours and friends on alert in case it was indeed her seen yesterday, but how do we catch her? Are there any organisations that can help me catch her if it was indeed her? Any suggestions or advise is hugely appreciated! Also, please be on a look out for her! Here is my advert for her on the national missing pet register: Cat missing in Crowthorne at the UK National Pet Register |

Re: Cat went missing as we moved - please help!
I would contact your local Cat protection League office and explain exactly the situation. CPL can lend out cat traps - sounds awful but the cat is not harmed in any way - think they are lured into it by food.
You probably have already seen this forum but if you haven't then I am sure people on there actually may be better able to help with suggestions as most are associated with cat rescue: Purrs In Our Hearts - Cat Forum UK - Index You should also be able to find details of your local office from the above site, I think This gives tips and useful sites: Lost Pet advice - Loads of Useful tips on how to get your furry back home. Also I read a thread not long ago about a cat lost in Rhyl area of North Wales. It was in the country but there was a major dual carriageway running between the owner's home and where he thought the cat was. I think in the end he checked out every feral cat community within a 10 mile radius and found the cat attached to one which was being fed by an OAP. Will try to find the thread but may not be able to. Last edited by Janee; 09-11-2008 at 07:41 AM.. |

Re: Cat went missing as we moved - please help!
Janee,
Thank you so much for this - I'll speak to them today. I have already spoken to them when I was looking for her, but I was still at home then and she was only missing for a couple of days. Thank you again! |

OK this is a long thread. Its from purrs so you have to start at the bottom of page 6 work your way to the top of each page and go forward to page 1.
Cat escaped from a cattery hence the A55 being in the way. I think though that it is quite relevant to your situation. Back from holiday and no cat, cattery lose it. |

Re: Cat went missing as we moved - please help!
Just read the thread - thank you for it! it gives me hope! I know Moonie is alive - if she was picked up by the council, we would have been contacted as both local councils in the area have scanners and she is reported missing with petlog people.
I think she felt that we were about to move and decided against it, but that doesn't make me feel any better. At least I know that she is well and hunting (the lady who contacted us said that chicks have started going missing after the sightings). |

Re: Cat went missing as we moved - please help!
Yes, she's difficult to miss. A very independnt little soul and absolutly gorgeous now that she's wearing winter coat. In summer she dropps the internal layer and looks tiny, but when it's cold, she turns into a ball of fluff with white chest and lovely white socks on all paws.
I don't think she'd look like this now, having been on the run for 3 weeks, but whoever finds her, I do hope they'd bring her to the vets.... |
