Re: Poor Indy

lil begger has figured out how to take it off! the collar is a safety 'snap' collar so he simply undoes it and removes the cone *sigh*

is being good as gold about me putting it back on then it stays on for about 4 more hours.

basically he takes it off whenever he wants to go to the loo/drink

Re: Poor Indy

Whenever my cats have had to have collars, I don't keep them on 24/7...If I am there to watch over them and stop them picking/scratching there is no need. Though I would put it on if I was leaving the house, or overnight when I was alseep. Personally I think it a bit horrible for them to have it on 24/7 for a whole week or so. And Indy is telling you that!!! Its nigh on impossible for a cat to go to the cat litter with a collar on, though they can master eating with it on (leaning it square on the floor over the bowl).

Poor Indy, wishing him a quick healing time.

And get him neutered! Help avoid future injuries, he will thank you for it (he looks quite young, what age is he? 6 months? 1 year?)

Re: Poor Indy

Lol - Indy has been neutered for 3 years now!, he's three years, six months old.

He's only wearing the collar when I am out/working (I work from home but he's not allowed in the office so I can't watch him) or when I'm asleep. It's taken off if I can watch him, for mealtimes even if I'm working (I take a break so I can watch him) for about 30-45 mins after eating so he can have a groom and go to the litter tray.

Thankfully his ear is looking fantastic and I'm only working for 4-5 hours today so last day and it's off from when I finish work tonight.

IndysMamma I clearly read this post of yours wrong, this is why I thought Indy wasn't neutered. I read it wrong, my apologies.

He looks a very young, cute, youthful looking cat hence why I thought he was younger He is a cutey

Re: Poor Indy

well it's not coming off

finished for a break earlier - had left his collar off whilst I fed him and got my lunch and so on, by the end of the hour - ear was bleeding all over the place where he'd ripped scab off *sigh*

it's amazing how much a cat ear can bleed from the tiniest hole in the world!

collar back on, he's zonked out fast asleep and it's staying on for another 24-48 hours

the main scrape he originally did is healed with very delicate looking new skin with only one 'wound' bit still in middle - no sign of infection and cleaned with animal safe antisceptic from my animal first aid kit and it is looking very good - just letting it get a bit more settled before I risk him scratching it back open.

if any redness/heat showing tomorrow then he's off to see his Auntie Angie or Uncle David (my vets)
