Biting!!!!!!

Hi all,

Oreo has 9 week old kitten has started biting when we pick him up etc.

Just wondering is this normal kitten behaviour, do they grow out of it in time etc.

Thanks,
Darren

Re: Biting!!!!!!

Hi

I have two 8 week old kittens that have probably been separated from mum too early (nothing to do with me I hasten to add!!).
Mine bite everything they can, including fingers, cables, jumpers, bedding, any hard plastic they can find.
I have put it down to some anxiety, possibly teething and general normal kitten behaviour and feel they will grow out of it eventually.
Hopefully yours will too

Yes is young for kittens to have been separated from mum and appreciated you know this already. I don't have experience with this, however am confident there will be others here who can provide support and information as to what is best for both yours and Darren's situation right now.

I have one good tip I found with our kitten when we took him which helped with his wanting to chew, mainly because his adult teeth were coming through, drinking straws, the hard ones where you can bend into shapes like little toys he can bat around and also relieve his need to chew, to get his teeth into. Also believe it or not, the puppy teething range, like the little kong, is soft enough so not to damage teeth. Our boy liked to toss it about. He's almost 2 now, just a thought maybe put into 'pending' for later to try
