Having done a bit of reading, I think I will go wet only route! The little tinkers are not impressed they no longer have milk!

Thanks
I would recommend the own brand Purely, it has a high quality meat content Purely Kitten Chicken 12 x 85gm | Pets at Home

If you go into the cat health and nutrition sector there is a sticky a-z of wet food. Kittens don't need to have kitten food if it is a high quality food.

Re: 10 week old Kittens. What should I be giving them?

Thanks for the replies

Ok, they have had 4 sachets given to them today. I would say they have maybe only eaten half of that between them. I've given them just water now. I've not given them any buscuits either. I'll see how it goes over the next couplle of days, but I dont think they are impressed.

Re: 10 week old Kittens. What should I be giving them?

Hi Ken

Hows much do they weigh? I am feeding my 2 little and often sometimes upto 6-8 times a day in the begining there was lots of waste however 10 days on they are eating most of it. I am needing good weight gains due to them being underweight. But they have not over fed yet. I dont think you can over feed kittens

Re: 10 week old Kittens. What should I be giving them?

I know Archie is about 1KG (hes going to be a big cat!) and Alfies about 600Grammes I think. He was by far the smallest of the litter. They ate most of 2 whole sachets last night! So it looks like they are taking to it

Ken
1kg @ 10 weeks is 'just' acceptable

600g though is quite underweight, almost half what he should weigh hun

Hope they pick up their eating, as they really do need to gain a fair bit.

Re: 10 week old Kittens. What should I be giving them?

It dosnt take them long to get into does it

Dotty the smaller when by far eats more than DD yet her weight gain is slower. I think she is storing it somehere because it seems impossible how much she eats

I hope as they get bigger they slow down if they dont I will need a re-mortgage.....

My Angel Littke Mo was only 2.7 kg full grown she ate less than these do now Infact I think the dog eats less

Re: 10 week old Kittens. What should I be giving them?

Thanks for the replies.

We have been to two different vets to be honest, and neither said they were worried about their weight I will monitor it over the next few days. Is there anything I can do to help stimulate their appetite? They will be going back to the vets in 2 weeks anyway for a follow up for their jabs.

I will get some different types of food too. We have almost finished this fleix ans wiskas stuff now

Thanks as always for your replies!

Getting them onto a better quality diet will make the world of difference and hopefully you will see them plumping up a bit

Mine didnt mention it either He was more interested in trying to sell me Hills biscuits and Advocate.....

I shall be looking for a new vet once they've had their 2nd jab...

Little and often is the key. Mine have good stomaches but they were weaned apparently on human scraps So if yours have had the same food since weaning I would air on the cautious side and change over slowly theres lots of old posts on here about how to help kittens gain weight
