Kitten going really affectionate

Salem lost his brother yesterday and tonight he has been really affectionate, rubbing up Pixie and even sitting on me which is really unusual, could this be because of Gloworm? Also he is constantly purring, I tried to see if it is normal by googling but that came back with links about how cats purr when ill etc which I really don't wanna think about (google is evil it seems)

my friend's cat lost his brother about a week ago (got run over by a car) anyway I went round last night and he's normally quite a standoffish cat. he was a total affection whore. I think that it's prob just that he's missing his brother. Cats can also purr when they are stressed so maybe it's stressing him out a bit. I'm sure he isn't ill don't worry.

Awww hun didnt want to read and run. He could just be needing some reassurance as far as he knows Glowworm was taken away and never came home. He could also be sensing your upset and want to comfort you. Just give him the cuddles he wants and let him know that he not going anywhere (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs hun)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Re: Kitten going really affectionate

When we lost our rescue kittens (who Jezebel thought of as hers) and then Pippin a few months later, Jezebel changed and became more outgoingly affectionate. And she also called for them at night for a while afterwards. All the pets did seem to miss all of them, but she missed them all the most.

And cats will purr to comfort themselves, so he might just be doing that.

Re: Kitten going really affectionate

Aww, he will be missing Gloworm and can sense you are too. He'll be wanting to comfort you and want you to comfort him too.

Spencer is a very affectionate cat, he rubs all round your head and then just randomly plonks himself down wherever he wants. Last night because OH was over he couldn't decide who he wanted to lie on so he laid half on me and half on OH - very cute! Skye, on the other hand, just wants cuddles from Benny! She hasn't managed it yet but I think it's coming - they were lying 'bum to bum' on the sofa last night! Progress, Benny would jump off the sofa as soon as Skye got up there before
