Just found a kitten!!
I heard a cat crying really loudly outside and when I opened the door a tiny kitten ran towards me from underneath a car!!
I have brought him/her in and put in a cat box, I already have 2 cats and one of them is sniffing around very suspiciously... Have put food and water inside but he or she is now crying and scratching to get out... I am supposed to be going out first thing in the morning, and the local rescue centre isn't answering the phone... what if it needs the litter tray?? What should I do? getting in a bit of a flap! |

Re: Just found a kitten!!
I'd go and do some door knocking. Take the little one out in the carrier with you, but don't show anyone the kitten unless they tell you the right description, so perhaps put a towel over the carrier. It could be that the little one has escaped from someones house near by and got a little bit confused.

Re: Just found a kitten!!
Do you have a spare room that you can put her in? Preferably not a bedroom as she may dart under the bed and you'll have a nightmare getting her out. I'd do a makeshift litter tray for her out of a small cardboard box, and cut a "door" in it for her if the sides are too high. Put her food, water and bedding away from the litter box.
If the local rescue shelter isn't answering, can you try phoning your local vet? I often see "cat missing" notices posted at my vet. They may have heard about her. And they should be able to scan her for a microchip.

Re: Just found a kitten!!
I've popped it in the spare room, he or she is making a right old racket!!
Am off to knock on some doors now. My friend has offered to take care of it, but she lives 20 mins away- is this a bad idea? She has no cats so that would be one less problem.... |

Re: Just found a kitten!!
See how you get on with your door knocking, hopefully something will shed some light as to how kitten got outside, however if no joy tonight, might be good to take up friend's offer since you already have two cats and it could alleviate any further stress to kitten, also to your cats as well. Also I recall you making mention about having to pop out early in the morning, if friend doesn't have litter tray, you could pop into one of the supermarkets on the way to pick up, s/he will definitely need one. Just a thought

Re: Just found a kitten!!
think I might have to give my friend a call.. none of my neighbours know anyone who's just got a kitten although she ( think it's a she) isn't all that skinny and doesn't look like she's been living outside or anything
She's quite feisty although when I stroked her she started purring very loudly!! |
