Question do you have a favorite pet?

I asked the following question on another on going thread.

I felt a little guilty saying it.... that in 40 yrs having adored all my pets I had an extra special bond with some, I can not explain why that pet in particular it just happened that way...
Don't get me wrong, I adore and look after each and every one of them the same... but for me there was something extra tugging at my heart with my Westie Winnie, who died 10 years ago and my cat Loulou who is 4yrs old now..............

Is this bad to admit??? or does this happen to most owner's?

Re: do you have a favorite pet?

#1 cat, Bola, is my fav even tho' he's only been here about 5 years, whereas #2 cat, Fudge, has been with me 14+ years and #3 cat, Max, who has only been here 18 months or so.

Before them Beckett was undoubtedly my fav, almost certainly as I'd had him from being a 14 week old kitten, the others having adopted me. The real pity was his only being here 18 months before being pts due to kidney failure after (most likely) falling foul of the then local pigeon fancier.

Bola gets most of my attention, not that it's intended, it's just the way Fudge, and to a lesser extent, Max, like things to be. Bola is playful, as is Max, but on his terms and Fudge, two words sum her up, contrary and aloof. When she's in the mood she's all over me, but those days are rare.

Yes I have and had special bonds with some of my cats.

Cheetah, Chloe, Claire, Sapphire, Amy and Joy I had special bonds with them and got really sad when 5 of them died and still sad without them here.

I think most folks will have a special bond with one pet, more than any others, that said ,it doesnt mean you dont love and care about them all.I had a special bond with my last Afghan Hound "Ludo".He was a "once in a lifetime"companion, the last dog I ever had.He was a fantastic dog without a nasty bone in his body. I could trust him in any situation, and I still miss him.The other pet that meant possibly more to me than the others was Bumble my semi feral cat.He made it so difficult to "love" him but i won in the end.He lived outside in a shed for a few years and then eventually moved into the house. He was a very predictable cat in as much as if he was pushed he would bite, but in his later years he became a bit of a softy and slept on the bed.He was a character ,he was battered and bruised from living rough for years but he was an endearing chap for all his bluster.

Re: do you have a favorite pet?

I've only had a few pets but my first cat will always be special as she was the first and taught me to love cats.

I convinced my husband to get two kittens here in the UK at a moment of weakness for him He loves them both now and agrees they were a great choice after all, but does love one a *smidgen* more. Bloo was the kitten that ran up to him and 'chose' him so I can understand why he feels that way. Luckily Freckle is loved a little bit extra by me, as he is very skittish normally but trusts me.

Re: do you have a favorite pet?

I dearly love the cats that I have now equally but differently, but I have three previous pets.

Paleface who was my childhood companion she came into the house when I was around two and she was my bestest furry chum until her kidneys gave up when she 16, she was a feisty yet loyal Tortie who always slept on my bed.

Macavity was a day old kitten who had been abandon and I was given him to bottle feed as school summer holidays had just started and he was never expected to survive, but we struggled on day by day and he became a very confused fluff ball that had really bad cataracts which rendered him almost blind but he went out and about and never got lost and he had a bit of problem personality complex as he really didn't know he was a cat as Paleface used to batter him so he sought solace with Crumpet the dog and he was a vicious bugger as he never learnt not to bite or kick and you would never know when he was going to turn on you but that just added to the fun, I think I also scrambled his brains by singing Yazz - The only way is up, Glenn Madeirous - Nothings gonna change my love for you, which would send the sane person demented let alone a poor confused kitty, he sadly was put to sleep when he was 15 as my parents had to move house and he would never ever have coped with moving as he was an out door cat and all he had ever known was that house and garden.

Beastie was my beloved St Bernard who died when she 3 when we lost her to a gastric torsion and it broke my heart utterly and totally as she was such a joy a slobbery hairy smelly joy but a joy none the less and it took me 5 years to even consider getting another pet and I was scared that even when I got them I wasn't ready but then I got my two furry bundles that I have now

Re: do you have a favorite pet?

Do you know I feel as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders! I have felt so guilty for so long knowing I loved and love certain pets a fraction more, and it appears to be normal................. thank you all for being so honest.

When I lost my Westie Winnie I broke my heart and swore I could never have another pet again....................... I could not bare the thougth of going through that pain again, that no pet could possibly come close and nothing could fill the gap in my life............

I did not have a pet for 5 years... then out of the blue I had Loulou my cat.................. what possessed me that day I shall never know, I telephoned the vets and asked if they knew of any cats or kittens needing a home.................. yes they did and knew the mother and litter etc............. I telephoned the owner and said I only wanted a grey kitten however!!!........ damn me they had a grey one................... off I went to have a look and it was love at first sight yet again.............................

Now I have 3 dogs, 2 cats 2 guinea pigs and would not swap any of them.. but my heart is with Winnie and especially my Loulou.

Re: do you have a favorite pet?

Well my first 2 were like my children, & so is Molly. So I suppose I feel like I've had 3 kids with no particular favourite. Although I think Molly's a bit more spoiled than my first 2

I know that feeling well and was terrified of falling for my cats, which I have hook line and sinker but not as much as I fell for my dog, there is still a tiny bit of my heart that will only ever belong to her

no its not
for years i have always had cats well i was brought up with them, but it was always my dream to have a rough collie (lassie) and this did happen.
for 27 years i had four of them altogether, but glen was 'my dog' we adored each other and when possible he came with me everywhere as well as my little blue merle lace.
when i lost glen in 1996 aged almost 14, i always said i couldnt bring myself to have another collie in fact another dog. in my eyes there is no other dog than a rough collie.
