Tigger - progress thread

So as some of you may know I picked up Tigger last night (5th sept). He's 1 yr 4 mths red tabby. Photos to follow.
Silly me collected him while he's suffering from a runny bottom. Stupid I know but that's old news now. He's been on a rubbish diet of Go Cat dry and I've been told that for the last week he's been picking at dog biscuits too! He was wormed with an off shelf product on Saturday, so there's no wonder he has a bad tummy. He's had no healthcare ever apart from infrequent worming and fleeing.
He was fasted for 20 hrs before I got him. Did a huge runny poo in carrier on way home. :-( I gave him small boiled chicken and rice meal at 8.30pm last night, again today he has had same small meal (really small amount) 5 times plus a dose or Pro Kolin. 3 wee's (2 in his tray) and no poos at all (last one was 7.30pm last night, Mon)
He is well in himself, much better today than yesterday. Cleaned himself up after the journey last night. Eating all I give him. Drinking ok. Bright and alert. Much less timid now. So I'm just waiting to see how it goes with his bottom before taking him to vet as it's another stress. Will take him as soon as he's better, or if he worsens.

So.... If anyone can offer more advice please do so. Thank you.

Re: Tigger - progress thread

I dont have any advice for you - but I did read your other thread and wanted to say I am glad he is settling in nicely - I am sure he will soon be fine with all the spoiling I can see in the near future

Re: Tigger - progress thread

No advice springs to mind ,seems like it is all going much better than you thought.I would keep up with the boiled chicken and rice for a day or two more until you know for sure his "runny bum"has cleared up.Then you can start slowly to introduce your preferred food.It would probably be best to keep the chicken and just start reducing a bit of chicken and adding some new food over a week or so until you have him on the new food.If that is not the best way to go I'm sure some one will say so.Well done for going with your gut and getting this poor cat out of his previous home and into a home where he will be loved and cared for.

Well there was a poop overnight, not in his tray, it was still loose but not watery like before. A way to go yet I think

Re: Tigger - progress thread

Poor thing. At least he has been and it wasn't watery, hopefully they will get firmer and firmer with his bland diet and then hopefully he'll hit the tray! Maybe he just needs a little litter training reminder course

A step in the right direction. Have you started on the Pro-Kalin yet? I've never used this before so don't know how long it takes to get working but, fingers crossed, it'll kick in pretty quickly.

Re: Tigger - progress thread

It sounds like progress is being made already. Tigger sounds fab and I am sure that with a little patience he will make a wonderful addition to your family. I'm glad he's home with you now!

I gave him some last night. Weighed him and he was 3kg. Not sure how long you're meant to give it for. I have 10ml in total and giving him 2ml each time so I have 5 days worth. I'll probably use it all.
