Just out of interest, what's supposedly wrong with putting tins in a fridge? Never heard that one before
I believe that elements in the tin start to react when exposed to air *Moggybaby desperately tries to remember her chemistry lessons....* and this can taint / affect the food inside.

I would not store in the tin for more than 24hrs myself but don't worry too much for less than that.
Ianthi, Dante and Cassia like this.

Re: Best way to store open tins?

Thanks everyone. They've had 3 meals with Smilla mixed in and have used about half a can so they won't be in the fridge for more than 24 hours - probably not even 12 when they are eating only Smilla. I've got some of the lids but for bigger cans so need to get some smaller ones.

Me too, i empty the remainder of the food into a sealed plastic container and put in fridge for no longer than 24 hrs
