kitten food

Hello Everyone,

Since joining this forum some people has mentioned about Animonda Rafiné / Carny food they look good and I would like to purchase some for my kitten they seems to have more varieties for adults cat which I wouldn't mind trying for my kitten I would like to know has anyone just stick to just kitten food or give some adults food as well.

My kitten is 5 months I know the breeder fed him on adult food when he was with her but since then I fed him on kitten. Do I stick to kitten food or would it be fine to give him the odd adult food. Also I would like some feedback about zooplus since a lady has just post a thread about her bad experience.

Many thanks

Marie

Re: kitten food

Most manufacturers say that kittens should be fed on kitten food until they are a year old. My previous experience is that kittens I've had end up naturally moving on to adult food way before they reach that age, although I have always had adult cats at the same time as having kittens so they are seeing/smelling the adult cat food.

There is no harm in a kitten eating adult food, especially at 5 months old, but I would persevere with the kitten food for as long as your kitten seems to enjoy it - there will be plenty of opportunity to feed him on adult food when he becomes an adult, so no need to rush Kitten food is much richer and so is arguably much better for a little one growing up.

The ironic thing I've found, is that when I've had kittens, they seemingly can't wait to move on to adult food when they see the others eating it - they obviously think they are missing out on something! Yet, a few years down the line, when there's a new kitten(s) in the house, the kitten food seems like the most delicious thing in the world to the adults! Cats, eh?

In terms of Zooplus, there is quite a lot of feedback on the other thread. Personally, I've never had an issue ordering tinned food, not even a dented tin, though it seems that others have. So, I would advise for you to give it a go if that's what you want to do! The good thing about them is that their customer service has been good on the couple of times I've contacted them when I've had a query, so I don't think you'd be out of pocket by ordering from them, even if there were to be any damaged tins or whatever

Re: kitten food

Move on to adult
From joining this site I've leant that you can feed adult food to kittens as the difference is minimul. At around four months we moved Maisie from kitten whiskers biscuit & wet to adult Orijen, and adult wet Grau, smilla, applaws, encore etc

Re: kitten food

Most kitten foods are only kitten foods because they contain more nutrients etc that a kitten needs. For example, the difference between Felix kitten and Felix adult is that the kitten contains more nutrients etc. With good quality food like Animonda or similar is that they contain more nutrients etc than the "supermarket" brands so are fine to be given to a kitten also.

My two are nearly 5 months and I am expecting my first order of Smilla from Zooplus today. I've only had one previous order from them which was their cat tree and everything was fine - suppose I'll find out about this one when I get home though!

Re: kitten food

Thanks everybody for your replies much appreciated my kitten eat anything you give him as mentioned the breeder was giving him adult food the good quality food seems to be of real meat I suppose it won't be any harm done.

I am so happy I found this forum so many great people here. I shall come back soon I better go and order some food for Samson he is on fresh food and applaws which I have been purchasing at my local shop but zooplus has so much more varieties to choose from I am sure he'll have a feast with those new food.
