Does neutering change their personalities?

Both my kitties have been booked in with the vet for neutering at the end of this month, Will I see any changes in their behaviours? Will Pixie be less obsessed with getting outside?

Both of them are lovely affectionate kitties

Re: Does neutering change their personalities?

Pixie is a girl yes? She probably will be less obsessed with going outside as she might want to go outside to find males :P

Other than that the only behaviour changes I saw were positive ones. Gloworm became less 'aggressive' to Mush, didnt try and playfight with him so much. Mush didnt change one bit, if anything he got worse at being a fuss pot lol

Nope not all, my Girl Amy & Lynx and my other females stayed mostly the same yet my Ginger Cat Fred and Black Cat Chloe went all soft and cuddly instead of being stuck up, but I noticed that boys change their personalities more drastically than females maybe it is cause of the testosterone levels in males.

Re: Does neutering change their personalities?

Not sure with Meeko as there was so much going on with him at the time.Feliway, behaviour therapy ect but his nature and behaviour have mellowed a lot so I think it did have a positive effect on him.My old semi feral was neutered while he was still living rough in a shed in the garden and he most definitely calmed down a lot and stopped wandering for miles at a time.

Re: Does neutering change their personalities?

I've never noticed a significant change with any of my cats. With our two boy moggies, I always said to my husband that they'd calm down a little once "done"? Did they? No, not a chance

Thats good I love my kitties just the way they are but I do wish pixie was more of a mummys girl like max is very much my shadow! so maybe once shes done she will be happier to hang about with me and less inclined to try escape out of any open door/window!

I have always wished for a shadow cat, but always end up with cats who stay in the garden most of time and say hi to me once in a while or only come to me when I go to bed .

Re: Does neutering change their personalities?

Mine were both neutered when they were kittens. Ten years later and Hobbes still regularly humps the rug. Hmmm...
