He's with you now hun so take the positive out of it. Once you start to give him proper TLC he's going to be a wonderful healthy cat. From what you have said of the previous 'owner' she couldn't give a toot about his welfare - eating dog bicuits when he's got a runny bum ffs!!!!! ![]() Well done for rescuing him hun - the love will come back tenfold. ![]()

Re: So annoyed with myself, I'm an idiot
I just worried now though. Hubbie took 2 yrs to persuade and now I may have landed us in some trouble! It's not like me moggybaby, I'm usually very level headed and I always tut at people who ask advice then take no notice.
I'm going to get up in morning to a kitchen full of poop!! He's not eaten his chicken and rice yet but is cleaning himself up after the journey (incident) |

Did you keep the juice from boiling the chicken? I'd put that down for him as, even if he doesn't eat, he still get some nutrition from the juice. Big (((hugs))) to you for having a big heart.

Re: So annoyed with myself, I'm an idiot
He's with you now Jo-Pop so nothing to be gained by beating yourself up over whether you did the right thing.Look at it this way,the sooner you got him and the sooner you can start helping him and dealing with the problem for him so that's got to be the best thing for him,right?.........and you know sometimes, where animals are concerned, letting the heart rule the head isn't a bad thing

Re: So annoyed with myself, I'm an idiot
I think alot of people have done the same at one time or another dont beat yourself up (easier said than done i know!) good advice you have had above, just work on getting him settled and a good diet as that will work wonders! i felt the same when i got my two and when they have mad moments almost verging on the ferral i ask myself the same (have i done the right thing!) and wonder if its normal behaviour and if they had come from a better home maybe they would be calmer but general jist i get is that most kittens can get off to a rocky start with one thing or another. His former life will be all but a distant memory soon and im sure he will become lovely. It may take some work but will be worth it (this is what i look forward to when mine are calm and sleeping like babies on me
) defo vet check worm and flea at earliest possible opotunity and fingers crossed its nothing that some tlc wont fix (hugs) i know first hand how much more difficult other halfs can make things with their i told you so's! just let it go over your head if that comes in your direction and stay positive sounds like you have done your little kitten a favour so lots of good has come out of it already! Re: So annoyed with myself, I'm an idiot
Thanks everyone but I serious am beating myself upland hubbie is very worried I may have got us in trouble. He was worked with an off shelf worker on Saturday im told :-(
He's eaten his little bit if chicken and rice and is cleaning himself up a bit now. I want to cry I'm that angry with myself. Hubbie and I argue quite often anyway and I just think I may have potentially made that worse too. Prob best I log off and try get early night. Tired and emotional I think |
