Thank you. Though were still very much 'in the woods' I'm on poop watch. Constantly worrying there will be a poop explosion again. Hopefully not. He had a 20hr fast and only boiled chicken and rice since 8.30pm last night. Small meals too. Still worrying though. Hubbie now not going till weekend, it's more his dramatic "I told you so" reaction I worry about.

Men are the biggest bunch of drama queens I have EVER come across!!!!!

When we got Abby, it was taking a bit of time for my two old boys to get used to her being around. From the THIRD day - yes, you read correctly - the THIRD day, my OH started making the "Oh she's never going to settle in, we'll have to take her back' noises...... I had him saying this for almost three sodding weeks - every damn day!!!!!

Now, 3 months down the line, that little girl is going NOWHERE and he adores her. When I remind him of the above hysterics (cause that is all they were...) he hangs his head and admits that I did know what I was talking about when I told him it would take time but that we would get there in the end!!!

So my advice is to let the OH mutter and mumble away - say 'yes dear' every so often to let him think you are listening to him - and then just let all it go over your head. These things are NOT an instant fix but take time and everything does eventually come good.

Tigger is going to be a very much loved family cat. You'll see.

Anyway, after the poop in the car at 7.30 last night there has been no toilet action, apart from a little wee but tiny tiny bit. I gave him very small boiled chicken and rice meal last night and this morning and will do so again this aft and tonight. He's eating that ok and have given him bit of cooking juice too. He's very nervous and spending most of time on top if kitchen units so have put his meals and water up there for him. Just trying to keep eye on his water intake. I've ordered some pro Kolin too. He's a lost little soul. Was planning to let him settle in before I get him vet checked but because of this runny bottom he may have to go tomorrow. But that just adds to his stress and that's not good.
Am I doing the right thing in terms of his care so far? No poop at all today but he's probably not got much left. Think when he does go there's no chance of him going in tray. I put him in tray last night but he got out quick. Should I show him again now? Trying to give him lots of quiet time.

What do you think about vet visit? Go tomorrow or wait?

He seems well in himself, alert ect and has cleaned himself up.

What about the food? Shall I continue on only chicken and rice for now?

Your story is very similar to mine poor little mite I am happy for you he is doing well I will keep fingers crossed for you and your new baby will follow your post to see how your baby do.

Re: So annoyed with myself, I'm an idiot

He is a bit underweight. Small cat anyway so think having runs since Saturday has lost him some condition. Today I have given him 4 small boiled chicken and rice meals. Each one enough rice to cover palm of my hand and about 5cm square of chicken. Chopped up together with a little of the cooking water added. Am I doing right, is it too much, too little? I'm trying not to let him gorge himself but he does seem hungry. 3 wee's today (2 in his tray) no poo since 7.30pm last night.
What do you think?

Maybe I need a new thread now....

Maybe I need a new thread now....

I'd say that no poo after approx 6 feeds (4 today + 2 last night?) is a VERY good sign indeed at this point. If he was having BIG tummy issues it would be coming out as fast as it was going it....

I think I would be inclined to keep the portions still small but maybe up the frequency to about every 90 mins'ish to ensure he is getting enough to eat but not enough to gorge and be sick.

Once his tummy becomes settled and used to decent, quality HEALTHY food, his weight should start to creep up until he is of a normal size.

Don't assume that because he is small now, he will remain small. I thought Abby would be titchy because she was petite when we got her. Not any more though... She has grown SO much in the last 3 months we can hardly believe our eyes. I am attributing this to her having good quality food. And she looks SOOOOOOO shiny too!! Also, boy cats reach their full mature size at approx 3 years so he's still got a bit of growing to do yet....

And yes, I think you need a new thread!!!!!!
