Re: Neighbours Cat or Hungry Stray?

I made up a box last night for the cat with an old quilt cover to sit in the covered porch area and it was very windy and raining last night and he was still there in the morning cold and miserable looking so I'm almost positive he can't have a home, why else would he sit in a box all night in the wet and cold?

he was absolutely famished this morning and he hasn't stop purring

Re: Neighbours Cat or Hungry Stray?

I think I might know what your dilemma is as we have been going through this. If it is someone's pet we don't want to lure it away from home but if it is skinny and looks homeless or lost you can't bear the thought of it starving. Nor are you sure if you should feed it in case it has a food intolerance.

If mine had gone missing I'd be very glad that someone asked around and put up posters to try to find me so I could get it back and had kept an eye on it's welfare meanwhile.

A very skinny but friendly cat with no collar turned up next door 2 -3 months ago stealing my neighbour's cat's food. She started feeding it but she couldn't take it in. It began living in our garden, sitting on our doorstep meowing and coming in our house whenever the door was open and we could tell it wasn't house trained. We were away on holiday for a week so we asked around and put up posters before we went. We got back on Saturday and nobody had claimed it But I just got news from a friend that it might belong to people who moved in near her. So I'll be going round today to see if it does belong to them.

Re: Neighbours Cat or Hungry Stray?

Well we bought some proper cat food for him today (we were just feeding him some cat treat's and tuna) he had a bad stomach today and was a bit i'll but we put that down to the diet of tuna and cat treats rather then standard cat food as we don't have a cat flap were planning to put him in one of the out houses tonight with the door open if he needs the loo, do you think he will be warm enough? he's also been pulling clumps of fur out and scratching so we bought a flea collar and put that on him with our telephone number. there's no obvious patches so could it just be moulting?

many thanks,

Carl

Carl, is there a cats protection league in your town? If so, give them a ring and maybe one of their volunteers cancome round with a scanner to see if there is a chip? They can also put the word out that a missing cat is found.

I would continue with the bed outside too. Good luck. Please keep us informed.

Hi, were out in the sticks here but were printing out some posters tomorrow and will put them up it's actually quite a small village so if someone's missing a cat then word will get round quick nearest village to ours is 4 miles in either direction so chances are he's quite local

Good on you x I think he is probably moulting and poor nutrition won't have helped him either. If you put a blanket down in a draught free area he should be ok tonight. Rep for you

Re: Neighbours Cat or Hungry Stray?

This is the poster I've mocked up (anything I've missed?) I'm planning to get a handful printed at the library tomorrow and get them laminated. were also going to phone the cats protection and let them know that we have the cat and see if there's anywhere we can get the cat scanned.

Re: Neighbours Cat or Hungry Stray?

A bit late now I know but looks fine. I had a few people ring me when we lost Mortimer with sightings but no joy I only hope some kind person looks after him.

I hope it all turns out well for you both

Re: Neighbours Cat or Hungry Stray?

Turns out it was a lady's cat down the road =] he goes around the whole neighbour hood apparently he's 19yrs old which explains him being unsteady on his feet and looking a bit unwell
