Re: What to do - I'm so sad.

Also how do you clean your litter trays, we change the litter twice a day and then clean it fully one a week. Should I be doing anything different for Cleo?

What do you mean by change? I assume its non clumping?

Have you tried different types of litter, maybe a different type in each box. It might be good if Archie doesnt like one and leaves it clear for others...

I use a clumping litter and remove poos and wees as and when I see them immediately. I change the tray when it gets any poo or wee on the sides (though I don't throw away clean litter, ever....) and so far thats worked fine for my two boys.

This!!! I hadn't thought of this before---maybe a different kind of litter will excite her but Archie won't like it.

Re: What to do - I'm so sad.

Right. I got up this morning and each of the litter trays had a poo in, which means either Cleo used it or Archie is VERY busy! She had done a wee on the carpet so that makes me think she is just a very fussy cat. There is no way I am getting up in the middle of the night to clean the trays. So I have been out and bought ANOTHER tray! I did listen to your comments and thought investing in one might be worth it(well no point asking for advice if you are going to ignore it!)

I also got some spray to treay the urine and poop smells and a new feliway plug in as mine was on the last legs!

So we shall see!
Jenny1966 and MoggyBaby like this.

Re: What to do - I'm so sad.

There's a spray called "Wash and Get Off" that cleans and leaves a citronella type smell which is supposed to put cats off peeing in the same place again, I've only used it once but touchwood we've not had any further accidents....

but we also have a 6 month old boy who is boisterous. He already loves her but his way of showing this is to lick her tenderly and then jump on her head! He always tries to playfight with our older cat so he can be a bit of a nightmare!
EAC - I've referred back to your original post regarding Cleo and re-read this bit. Is this still happening? Or has Archie eased off a bit? Is he trying to playfight with Cleo the way he does your older cat?

I'm just wondering if she finds this a bit too much just yet given that she has only been with you for 3 weeks, she herself is very young, and that she is still trying to adjust to her new home.

Only a thought....

well yes but she plays a lot with him. They are quite inseperable. Archie is a special needs cat so he does have to be watched!
