some parasites may not be visible to the human eye you will see segments of tape worm which look like rice or thread like worms which would be roundworm. most of the others would be tiny and only visible under microscope. good luck on the poo hunt!

Re: Kitten losing weight??!

i havn't seen anything, last dose of medicine this morning. I was grooming her today and i noticed what i thought was dirt, evapourated in water and showed up on cotton wool like spots of blood and i found 2 fleas. Is there a safe flea treatment i can use. or should i wait to get some from vet in a coulpe of days. ive read flea's in kittens can be dangerous and lead to anaemia? could this be her problem?

If she's weak I would be reluctant to put stuff on her without a vet say so, and as it's the weekend, the safest thing to do is get a flea comb on her and just comb and comb like doing the kids hair. You's be amazed how effective it can be if they are actually on her. Concentrate on underside, and under legs, base of tail and neck area. Keep doing it while you are treating her , and get proper stuff from the vet to treat your carpets too, especially around the edges. Spray any beds she uses and then wash them before she has them back to get rid of chemical residue. Keep her out of the room you have sprayed while it's fumey.

Re: Kitten losing weight??!

thanks, i have been combing her and washing her with damp cotton wool, as she is not great at grooming herself. has never had a mummy to teach her! haven't found any more fleas but looks like she has loads of eggs?? I'm not sure if i have seen worms or not . we use the natural wood based litter . so its hard to tell if its worms(rice) or wood bits? but she certainly seem livelier over the last 24 hours, and is she eating less, and belly feels less bloated. fngers crossed.
im triying to add picture, she is beautiful.x

Re: Kitten losing weight??!

Bless her she sounds a sweetheart. She will be much happier for the combing and grooming. I would do it every day until she can be treated and the house too.

Re: Kitten losing weight??!

went to vets today, she has put on weight . she is now 0.450g. vet very happy. She flea sprayed her, said she was too little for spot on. Need to keep an eye on her weight over next 2 weeks, and then hopefully she can have her first jab.
