Cat fountains

I'm looking for a fountain for my kittens as they don't seem to drink much water, if any at all. They do love their milk though and that is always finished when I leave some for them.

I'm looking for a fountain that moves that sounds so stupid!! But I mean, one that has running water, or similar, that will encourage them to investigate it and hopefully drink. I looked at the one that is actually like a fountain - think it is circular with the water coming up the middle and fanning out, a bit like this one but without the extra bowl. I also like the ones that have water running like a tap.

Hagen Catit Drinking Fountain 3l: great deals on food and drinks dispensers at zooplus

I'm not wanting to pay too much but want it to be fairly decent and easy to clean etc.

Re: Cat fountains

Just so you know cat milk is like a food to cats, not a drink.

How many bowls do you have? I found my boys drank more water when I kept a bowl in the bathroom. Although they drink from the one in the kitchen, the bathroom bowl is their prefered choice.

I don't have a fountain as my two seem happy to drink from the bowls (and puddles!), but I have seen some groovy ones other member have so you should get good advice soon.

Re: Cat fountains

That's the one I have and I'd say don't get it. It's a pain to get clean - we have hard water and it's always got limescale round the seals The extra bowl is for food but the food ends up in the water and makes a horrible mess.
I'm sure there must be better ones even though this one does look quite nice and my cats are very happy to use it.

Yeah, I just liked the way the fountain fans out, but also like the ones where it 'trickles' too.

many cats are lactose intolerant so cows' milk can cause stomach upsets If you want to give milk as a treat there are various kitten/cat milk packs on the market these days - but it is just a treat not a substitute for mother's milk for young kittens or water for adult cats.

My 2 kittens get cat milk as a treat but so hard not to waste it when it says it needs to be used in 4 days but the carton contains 4 servings. Is it not bad for them to be given 4 days in a row?

Re: Cat fountains

I have the platinum one where the water drops down like from a tap and Benji LOVES it. It encourages him to drink but he also likes sticking his head and paws in it
