Hooded litter trays made a huge difference for us, I had three for the two of them, but cut down to two because they weren't really using the third and it was wasting litter. When I clean the boxes I use dettol dilute which seems to help, and because they're indoor kitties I make sure I clean them often as they don't leave any waste outside (obviously).

I don't know how others do it, but I do a full litter change and box clean every other day, and get rid of any waste, number one or two, as soon as they do it, and top up litter as necessary if needed. I work from home though, so keeping on top of any waste is easier for me.

I also tried Tig with some raw food- but it was a very big, definite 'no' fussy madam.

I use a hooded tray (with the fron removed) and Cats Best litter and I can never smell anything whatsoever from the tray. She does do a good job of burying it though so maybe that's the reason

Would I be right in thinking this is more beneficial?

If they have more meals spread over the day their systems will process the food more slowly, so absorbing more.

Feeding fewer meals their systems speed up, and absorb less so expel more?

My girls poo roughly once every 2 days, sometimes on the third day. And it doesn't smell at all. You can literally hold the poo in the scoop to your nose and not smell a thing I haven't done that, but I did get hubby to ... out of curiosity of course

My cats go twice a day. They are fed wet food twice a day but have dry food out all day.

I have a practically non-existant sense of smell, so it doesn't smell to me. My husband moans about smells when he occasionally cleans the tray but I don't think it is anything excessively stinky.

So feeding them more often may help?? I've been feeding them 3 times a day when I'm at work so will try more often when I'm off and see if that helps. Off for the next 4 days so let the experiment commence

Mine all go once or twice a day, all at the same bloody time

They're fed at least 3 times a day, I will put more down if there are empty bowls though and they seem hungry so sometimes 4.

I have an ultra sensitive sense of smell so I always think it smells. I scoop as soon as theyve finished, use litter freshner and burn scented candles in the evening so it doesn't bother me too much.

Having the foster kittens we often had horrible smells in the front room it seemed like they were constantly pooing. Uggs tends to go one or two times a day. I usually scoop as soon as it is produced and I have room sprays from sainsburys (not air freshners) that come in glass bottles for £4 one scent is sweet orchid and coconut and the other is fresh linin both help cover the smell until it disapates.
