Help my kitten

Hi, I got my kitten Nala yesterday and she has only used the litter box once for a small pee and that was only after I put her in it.

She has been eating.
She had been drinking up until the pee but I'm not sure about after.

Could this be to do with the litter or the box?

ETA: she's not running around crying or anything like that, she's been very cuddly since I got her home! right now she's curled up on my lap.
But still I'm worried about the litter sutuation

Re: Help my kitten

Kittens often take a couple of days to settle into their new surroundings and don't go to the loo. Keep an eye on her and be ready to move her to the litter tray if she starts to squat somewhere else. Dally Banjo's suggestion of keeping her in one room with a litter tray is excellent for when you're not around.
If you are using the same litter as her breeder there shouldn't be any problem with the litter itself.
And pictures will be cooed over as soon as she is settled

Re: Help my kitten

Thank you for your replies, you will have some photos hopefully either tomorrow or Friday, I wasn't wanting to have a camera flashing at her before she is comfortable here.
She went for another pee earlier but I had to put her in the litter tray again. She has also eaten and drank quite a bit since earlier so that must be a good sign.

Eta: she just used the tray on her own, I never thought I would be happy to see a kitten use a litter tray

That's great news chris9...sometimes they just need a while to settle into their new surroundings.

Looking forward to piccies, Nala....love that name

Re: Help my kitten

I had the same problem when Jaffe came home (btw glad to hear she has now used the litter box on her own) he didn't go for a pee till the morning after we brought him home and took 2 days till he went for a poo and then started crying when he went. We took him to the vet for his check up and it turned out he had been holding it in and got constipated so he had to go on laxatives for a week. Poor little thing. I would say just keep an eye on her and if she isn't going for number 2 then let your vet know.
