What is Cat Nip?

Hi,

I have a new kitten and I am wondering what Cat Nip is? What is its purpose and can my 8 week kitten have it?

Darren

Re: What is Cat Nip?

It is a type of herb that cats like. Most cats like it, but there are some that do not react to it. Very young kittens often do not react to it, but will when they are older, say about 1 year old. It is harmless to cats. Another "herb" you may want to try at some stage is valerian root, but it does unfortunately smell like stinky cheese. One of the members on this forum, Aurelia, makes lovely cat toys stuffed with catnip or valerian.

Re: What is Cat Nip?

My kitten Amber goes crazy for catnip and Amy too yet others just fall asleep when they smell it.

Catnip is a good herb drug for cats without any side affects apparently.

Re: What is Cat Nip?

My cats go mad for catnip, they love it and its sooo funny watching them after they have had some!

Try watching some videos on you tube and you will see!

Its definitely worth getting some to try! x

Re: What is Cat Nip?

Jet ignores catnip but loves valerian, - lilly however loves both of them. Remember as someone has said young kittens may not react to it, perhaps leave it til the kit is a bit older and then try it. You can also get catnip in spray form as well, which you can spray on cat toys or scratchposts
