It's more expensive but I found it by searching for rooms rather than flats to rent (also searched things like 'flatmates' etc.). A few websites popped up where you can search for places that allow pets.

Be warned though: sometimes it may say "bills inc. (included)" and then you find out they're not - but I'm so glad I found somewhere, and the other people in the house seem sound.

By the way, don't waste time with estate agents - idiotic fees, and they ask for a guarantor who you have to pay them for even though the gurantor will be someone YOU know!
