Bella is going the vet tonight :-/

Hello,

I'm taking Bella the vet tonight. On bank holiday Monday she had a bit of diarrhea and vomited once - which we put down to over eating because my OH and I had overdone it in the morning. It seemed to clear up but last night we noticed something strange. Just under her ribcage on the right hand side there was a soft (sometimes hard depending if she ate?!) lump and she wouldn't sleep/rest on her right hand side. All of a sudden she seemed kind of lethargic and uncomfortable so we kept an eye on her. She went to do her business (a number 2) and it was neither "good" or "diarrhea" just paste-like.

The lump then vanished and she become kitten like again. Maybe I'm overreacting. But it's a change in the cat and a change means a vet visit. I've thought maybe it might be worms. But honestly I'm clueless to whether it will be or not. We've been feeding her less than usual because of the diarrhea (and she seems happy with the arrangement?!) so for it to be her "stomach" popping out like that seems a bit unnatural.

Just thought I'd let you know :-/.

Re: Bella is going the vet tonight :-/

Hello .

As you can tell by the smile, it is OK. Well sort of.

Bella has a hernia and it's nothing to worry about at the moment. Obviously any changes such as vomiting constantly or pain then it needs to be fixed otherwise they will fix it during her spay if it hasn't already gone away. The diarrhea was unrelated as it cleared up so fast. Just one of those things and I'm guessing BECAUSE she had the diarrhea is the reason I noticed ... Because I was spending so much time looking at her and worrying!

Apparently this is very common with young kittens. It will be more visible when she has a full stomach because of the nature of it (he said it was fatty) and makes it protrude more.

But yeah, other than that. Definitely not really bad news. Yay!!!

OH says he's in the wrong profession though. Said he should have become a professional kitten tickler and charged everyone £32 a pop :P.

Oh, does anyone want any pictures? I'm not sure if this will help anyone. I will try and get one when it's prominent so people know what it looks like. I googled and googled and couldn't find much or any pictures relating to the problem (except umbilical hernias, I'm not sure if this is the same as it's on her side).

awww good news ish

I was going to mention hernia, but didnt want to scare you, only reason I thought this was because I had a hernia and what you described was exactly what my symptoms were, hernia used to 'pop' out amazing how humans and cats can be the same in some things

Re: Bella is going the vet tonight :-/

Aww thank you so much everyone You're all so great here .

She's having a little sleep at the moment. Too much stress for one day. It's not "popped out" at all today so this is pretty good. Now it's just time to keep a good eye on her.

I will try and get some more piccies of her and upload them so you can see them . She's grown a lot in the past month!

She is due to be spayed at the end of September, so fingers crossed it heals itself (not sure if it can? Vet was under impression it could - he said it only felt like a small tear) or they will fix it then. I'm sure it'll be fine though. And we're all obsessed with her so we'll be keeping a close eye on her .

Good to hear the visit set your mind at rest. Actually hernia struck me as well. If I recall correctly someone else had here? a kitten/cat with one in the last few monthis. They are more common than you think, though.

Glad to hear diarrhea has gone!

Glad to hear it was nothing too awful and there's nothing to worry about. I 'm the world's worst for imagining things and worrying so know how it feels. x
