Question Vaccinations?

Hello

My 13 week old kitten had his 2 lots of vaccinations for enteritis, chlamydiosis and herpes/calic virus before I brought him home.

He's going to be an indoor cat. Does he need to have the FeLV vaccination against leukaemia? Also will he need any boosters etc?

Re: Vaccinations?

It depends on who you ask - I don't think there is any wrong answer, it's about your personal choice.

Some people don't bother with annual boosters for indoor cats but, since I cannot guarantee that my cats will never escape, my cats will have theirs.

Re: Vaccinations?

personally I would get the vaccinations anyway just to save myself the worry that somehow the viruses could be brought into the home or the cat could get out and come into contact with them

Re: Vaccinations?

My indoor cats were vaccinated against everything they possibly could be when I first got them. They had their first boosters after a year, but since then I've been quite relaxed about their vaccinations. Usually, they get done every 2 to 3 years. I did make sure they were done this year when we were getting ready to bring Eva into the house for the first time because I wanted to make completely sure they were protected if she brought anything in with her. I'm now going down the same vaccination route with Eva.

Smile Re: Vaccinations?

Thanks everyone for the detailed replies and thoughts. I've booked him in at the vets on Friday for his claws clipped so I'll speak to them then.
