My first cat is black, sleek and beautiful, and looks exactly like my profile and avatar pics because Sam is my first ever cat. I found him when I was 25 and had been living away from home in a pet-free environment for 2 years.

I did share my life with cats before that, but they were family cats, so not "mine" as such. The first cat in my life was Lucky, who was also pure black, but I don't have any photos. She was my parents' second cat, after their first cat was run over before I was born. One of my earliest memories is of being allergy tested at about the age of 3 (I'm asthmatic), and the nurse at the clinic saying I was allergic to cats and my parents should consider getting rid of their cat. I was dragged out screaming, "Don't let her take Lucky away!" Lucky moved out a few years later, and went to live with the people next door, who kept in touch with us even when we moved away, and she lived to 19. My parents never took the nurse's advice and, obviously, neither have I.
