At a loss to find accommodation for cat...

...just discovered (at the last minute!) that at Bolton University accommodation I'm not allowed any time of pet - they tell me this AFTER I've moved in (not signed contract but got keys last week - showed me contract today)! Isn't it standard practice for landlords to say "no pets" if they don't want pets, just like they say "no smokers" etc.?

So now I need to find somewhere else in Bolton A.S.A.P. that will allow pets and doesn't have more than £200 deposit. Estate agents ask for ridiculous amounts (close to or over £1,000!) so I'm not sure what to do. Really I need bills to be included so I don't have to worry about them (gas, water, and electricity).

Any suggestions?

If it's privately owned, pets may or may not be allowed at the owner's discretion.

My old flat stated 'no pets' on the contract, but the landlord made a note to allow my rats (that was all I had at the time!) after I send him some pictures of how I keep them (clean cage!) and also offered to pay extra deposit.

How do I find details of private accommodation?

look on google - check local papers - there are companies out there that sort out student accommodation, right move has a renting section.
