Rescue cats: the first move

How long did your rescued cats take before they made the first real affectionate "move", ie. approached you deliberately for the first time for a cuddle?

Nunu: 3 months Very shy boy. I remember I was sitting on the stairs, he came down, climbed onto my lap and started gently playing with the button on my cardie. I could smell his little fishbreath (oh, my heart soared!!!!)
Girly: two weeks and she had taken over. never been very affectionate however and it is only now, two years later, that she is regularly coming for a cuddle.
Flea: got her in December, friendly but shy, and today for the first time chirruped at me, rolled and then came up to me for a kiss.
Bless their fluffy socks....

Re: Rescue cats: the first move

Moriarty was a very shy boy and had a really bad time at the sanctuary. The other cats didn't like him.

But when he came home he was on the couch next to me in about half an hour. He came to bed too that night and has slept next to me every night since. He was adopted about 3 years ago.

Tabitha took imediatly to me she is a very confident kitten who likes everyone as she sees them as one big toy!

It took Rufus about five or six weeks. He is a real snuggle-bum now!

Re: Rescue cats: the first move

With Sam, it was instant. He was very trusting as a young cat, and would go up to any human for affection. He's become more cautious as he's got older, but that was one of the big factors in my decision to keep him indoors - he was too trusting for his own good.

Milly has never approached either of us for affection. We always have to go to her.

I think it won't be very long before Eva starts to make the first move. She's started "chirping" occasionally if one of us goes past where she's sleeping, and doesn't stop to make a fuss of her, so I think it's only a matter of time.
