Litter Training

Best way to start? 3 of the kitten's are really good eaters, the other 2 not so much, however one did a poo in the drawer even though I placed her in the tray and the other started to do it on the floor but I managed to get him into the tray before he did anything..will Pixie actually train them? or do I have to keep placing them in the tray?

Re: Litter Training

Mummy cat should train babies but you can help by putting them in the litter and using their paws to scratch in the litter they will get the idea eventually but you may have a few accidents along the way.. if you do pick up poo and place in litter also if they wee outside of litter soak it up with cotton wool and squeeze some into litter this will give the stimuli of where they should go. Also make sure you thorougly clean the area where they have had the accident to prevent repeat offending. White vinegar is good as is bicarb Good luck xxxxx

The best way is to make sure their scent gets on the litter so they know it's theirs and to use a cotton swab to rub their butt area to stimulate it.

Then to pretend scratching in the litter and/or making their paws scratch the litter.

Re: Litter Training

I had some help from a great breeder, Ill pm you her name with a litter of foster kittens, its best to make sure that mum has wee / poo poo in the tray so they smell it, mum doesnt train them, lol I imagine mum pointing to the tray lol! but they watch her, but we found helping them along made the process quicker! I also put them in the tray and they smell and dig, were litter trained by 6 weeks and no accidents!! we were a very pleased family! we had a small tray and built up to a bigger one or they couldnt climb in it lol! x
