Advice RE: found cat.

Hi,

I found a cat today on the street which is completely emaciated. You can see all of /her (haven't checked) bones jutting out and he/she is clearly starving.

I picked him up and put him in a carrier and rang the RSPCA. They weren't interested at all and said I should let him go.

I am not exaggerating about this cat's condition - I can't just let him go. He would be dead soon if I did.

What else can I do? I can't keep him and we don't have a separate room he can go in.

Re: Advice RE: found cat.

RSPCA surely aren't doing their job correctly if they told you let it go, where's the 'protection in their name in that reply? Disgusting...if you let him go he'll surely die. Perhaps take him to a animal shelter then?
Good luck and well done you for caring !

Re: Advice RE: found cat.

Very often the RSPCA are useless in cases like this. As has been advised I would take him to the local vet or shelter. Good luck with the poor thing.

Re: Advice RE: found cat.

It is a BH Monday and our vets aren't open (pretty rural here!). I've moved all my animal's bowls and beds into the lounge so putting the stray in the kitchen until tomorrow when I'll pop him to the vets. Just offered him a bit of kibble and he wolfed it down. Don't want to overload his stomach though so no more for a while though. It's so sad. He was clearly so very hungry

Re: Advice RE: found cat.

Well done for taking this stray in and feeding him/her. Be careful not to mix him/her with ur cat and wash hand thoroughly when ur touched stray b4 touching ur own just incase stray has any nasties. good luck with getting stray to vets tomorrow xxxx

Re: Advice RE: found cat.

Poor thing!! Good on you for caring and taking him in. I'm sure our cat would have the same fate if we hadn't taken her in. She was so starving she "stole" some cooked chicken. If I was you I'd feed him little and often and like suggested taking him down to the Vets tomorrow or phone the CPL in the morning.

Re: Advice RE: found cat.

Poor little mite.
So kind of you to notice him and take him in.
might be a good idea to pop a picture of him on here and in the lost and find.
Also on a few lost sites on the internet. Also in your local shops etc.

Thr RSPCA are not good. Last year when one of mine went walk about, i rang them up and they took all the details.
6 weeks later when someone found him they rang the RSPCA up and they said that they would look into it.
Harley is a British cream so easily recognisable.
I am still waiting for the phone call. Luckily he was chipped and i had put an advert of him in the paper. So i got him back.

This poor soul could have been lost for months.

Must be heartbreaking to see him like that
