New to the forum. Just a quick hello.

Hi there, my name's Mike, I'm picking up my two kittens on saturday (I will put piccies up when they arrive home).
Me and my wife have never had kittens before, I've had numerous puppies in the past but my wife is allergic so we have decided to take on two bundles of fluff. Ive got all the accessories we need(and more) so just waiting for the weekend to come around to pick them up!

Just a few questions;
1. Where do they sleep on their first few nights in their new house? Are they just left to roam, as we have an open plan cottage so the upstairs doesnt have doors and thats the living area. The house was very oddly designed. Or do we keep them in a room so they won't go wandering?
2. They are going to be house cat for the first year or so of their lives, do I need to get both flu and leukemia because I was told by the vet that the leukemia is just for cats that will be going outside as well as living inside.
3. Wires, do they tend to have a good old nibble on them?

If anybody can give any sort of response to my questions, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

1. keep them in a room at first, a whole house will be too overwhelming especially with regards to their litter boxes. it will also make them feel a bit safer to be a bit more enclosed.

2. I would get both. How old are the kittens? The initial kitten vaccinations are very important so I would get both, what if they escape and get hurt by a cat with a disease? They definitely need it if you plan on letting them out when they get older.

3. They can do, especially whilst teething, so I would suggest moving wires out of the way as much as possible

That's brilliant thank you for that quick response. They're both 8 weeks, the vet said bring them in at 9weeks so I'll book them both for all injections.

Again, thank you

3/ Beckett didn't chew wires as a kitten, but he loved them all the same....... ...especially those behind my pc desk which for some reason were a much more appealing toilet area than the litter tray.

Yep, the injections really should have been done by the 'breeder' who also shuld have kept them til 12 weeks.
In this case they definitely need to be kept in one room for a little so that they can reach the litter tray as the younger they are, the more prone to accidents.

Be aware that as they have been removed from mum quite young you may have issues with biting and scratching more than a slightly older kitten. Do not use your hands as playtoys.

Hi, has your wife been around the kittens to make sure she isn't allergic?

Yeah, she's always had cats. Both long haired and short haired. Very excited to get them. Going to sort out insurance for them too, probably going to go proplan life insurance. My dogs have always been insured with them and always paid up as and when required.
