Tonight is the night

Well I picked up a stair/baby gate last night thanks to the suggestion from Holly And tonight is the night it's going to get used for the first time! The kittens are much more settled now and coming out of the room to investigate the hall etc so I am thinking of leaving their door open with the baby gate on the kitchen door so they can come out and investigate if they want. Also meaning they can see Benny though the gate but he can't get to them, hoping this will help Benny get over his excitement and get used to seeing them. But, of course, they don't have to come out at all if they don't want to but I am going to give them the option

Hopefully I will be able to report progress between Benny and the kittens soon

Re: Tonight is the night

I was going to do the lead thing first but thought this way the cats would feel safer knowing Benny can't get to them? And it still allows them to approach him if they want?

Re: Tonight is the night

Hey, I'd try & keep Benny nice and calm, lots of treats & try & keep his attention slightly away from the cats if they venture out, give him lots of fuss etc! Wouldn't let him get to close or bouncy maybe try & carry on as you normally would at night...same routine & not make it a big deal if someone pokes their whiskers round the door

Although)) all Holly wanted to do was have a sniff & see what this new furry was in her house, a few hisses from a very tiny Maisie, a couple of pats on Hollys overly nosey nose & that was it! Best friends here's hoping they all get along!

Hope all goes well

Re: Tonight is the night

I don't think it's likely to happen tonight as they still hide when they hear me going up the hall but carrying on as usual and will do the same whenever I'm at home so they can come out when they're ready. Benny just sleeping etc as usual, only gets excited if I go through there cos he can't come too lol

Re: Tonight is the night

They never came out but we took benny in on the lead and he was remarkably calm. Skye just sat at her bowl and ate some food and Spencer was on the windowsill and back of the sofa. He gave Skye kisses and tried to speak to Spencer - he backed off but never gave benny a swipe tonight! Have moved the gate to the door of their room so benny can go through and see them - Skye has been sat at the other side getting kisses from benny but Spencer is still staying back. He whines when he's at the gate but soon gives up and comes through to the kitchen/living room, currently flat out on the kitchen floor!

Good start I think.
