Re: How do you control the smell?

I think the worst cat litter I've ever bought was from our local corner shop. It was £1.59 or something and it was soooo rubbish. Well what do you expent for the price lol! It was clay based.

I used Catsan when I had my ragdoll and I never noticed a smell either. I seemed to go through more than what I am with Oko and 2 kittens, though.

Re: How do you control the smell?

We used Catsan (non-clumping) when we were in the UK and could get it, and didn't have any problems with smell. I found it really easy to separate the soiled from clean litter because it changes colour from almost-white to grey when it gets wet, and I used a scoop without holes to remove it.

Now we're on cheap, "scented" litter because it's all we can get locally, and it smells fine when it's fresh, but it still stinks if you don't empty the tray as soon as it's been used.

Re: How do you control the smell?

I'm having a complete nightmare re: the litter tray situation since I got my third cat two weeks ago

I usually have the hooded litter tray in the cats bedroom but I've now got an additional open tray in the bathroom. My boyfriend is contantly on my back about the smell, I feel like all I do is scoop and change litter. It's really bad. I'm usuing Tesco odour control litter at mo. It's not really good. I've had wood pellets and Asda own brand clumping. Nothing is masking the smell!! I've had to cover house in plug-ins and just go round squirting air freshener all the time.

I might try the crystals next to see whether they any better? I'm also thinking of buying a new hooded tray in the hope its better than the one I currently have!
