Hello there :) Tabby Cats

Hi there
Just mosing on over here from my usual place in the dog forums
Was just thinking to myself earlier about cats, well specifically Orange Tabby cats

Are they a specific breed (british short haired? ) Do more than one breed come in this striking colour?

Please excuse my ignorance on the subject, were I to be getting a cat it wouldnt be for a good few years yet and I would definitely research thoroughly as I did before getting the dogs. Breeders, breeds, health tests etc.

Many thanks

Vicki

Hey I have a ginger tabby with just a little bit of white on him, kitten and he is just a normal moggy, he is one of my foster kittens see pic.

You can get most colour variations in just normal domestic short/long haired cats from rescue centres. There is also orange/red/ginger tabbies from the British Shorthaired cats and I am sure other breeds.

His name is Tango and he has a brother who is just a brownish/grey tabby and white and a sister who is ginger tabby and white, her markings arent very good as her rosettes are not formed well. She has a lot of white on her tho

Re: Hello there :) Tabby Cats

Yup you can get red tabby in almost all breeds!

I have a red tabby exotic, my friend has a red tabby BSH, most breeds will have a red tabby except perhaps ones such as Russian Blues and others that require specific colouration.

Re: Hello there :) Tabby Cats

I have both a ginger and white tabby moggy and a red and white (same as ginger, just pedigrees are classed as reds) tabby maine coon.

One of my favourite colourings good choice! As the others have said, you won't have a problem finding this across different breeds.

Re: Hello there :) Tabby Cats

I used to have a ginger moggy as a child he was a very unique cat and his name was Percy he was very ginger though. Sadly we lost him, he was spooked in our back garden oneday and never came back home.

He was very like you Dex Roxanne

Re: Hello there :) Tabby Cats

Hi there, ginger (red) tabbies are gorgeous aren't they - I have a moggy one. Tabby is a coat pattern not a breed, so any breed of cat could have a tabby in it. Red are common in almost every breed so you will very easily find one.
