Argh I went to such an awful shop today looking for more fish for my tank and came across so many skinny lizards dead fish and even worse a kitten pen selling supposedly pedigree Bengals and siamese kittens poor things. People were just grabbing them for a cuddle and when I questioned the guy at the shop about them he said they were 8 weeks old I think younger though and came from breeders hmmmm doesn't seem likely just keep thinking about them one siamese kitten was so terrified

I hope you report the shop to Trading Standards. If you don't want to make this report, please PM me the shop details, name, location etc and I will report it

I've yet to find a pet shop which has pet welfare as a forefront before profit, sadly

You only have to look at a) the animals they sell and who they sell them to, and b) the insanely inadequate sizes of fish tanks, rabbit cages, hamster cages etc

I know of one chain with a particular branch which is well known for selling whole litters of 'pedigree' kittens and claim they come with all 'papers'. Obviously they don't because registration documents would identify the breeder who would be breaking GCCF rules. It never ceases to amaze me that buyers will pay way over the odds for an undersized kitten from such a place but they do because they see it as more 'professional' and assume they're getting a better service

Yes these were meant to come with papers aswell what a joke. Had to bite my tongue at one lady who kept grabbing a tiny Bengal kitten and trying to cuddle it but it was just making little squeking noises and struggling

Do you happen to know what papers were involved? I'll happily bet my life savings that any pedigree cert won't have a single registration number of any cat. Do they by any chance also give a voucher for vaccination? The place I know does.

They are probably just tabbies, and the papers will simply be some sort of made up pedigree.

There was a place someone mentioned on here once which was apparently selling F2 Bengals (very close to wild cats I think, go for thousands, not a couple of hundred in a poxy pet shop...)
