Where do you store your cat food?

When you have say got a part opened tin or pouch of cat food, do you store it in your fridge until you next require it?

OR

Perhaps your cat doesn't like their food straight from the fridge - so you have to remember to take it out of the fridge 30 mins. before it's required (is anyone really that organised?)

Obvioulsy this is not a problem with the dry stuff, but the wet stuff goes off pretty quickly in warm weather and part open stuff should be stored in the fridge.

Re: Where do you store your cat food?

Yes I put part opened cat sachets in the fridge in a freezer bag, I find it doesn't feel as cold, my cat has got used to the second half of the sachet being colder than the first half... It's the jelly she likes anyway!

Definitely fridge after it's been opened. Little Miss Messi doesn't mind it being cold at all. In fact she is not fussy - any food will do - you can often hear her purring whilst eating - sounds like a loud engine

Re: Where do you store your cat food?

It depends on how long we're storing it for. If it's just until the next meal (a few hours) it goes in an airtight container in the cupboard. If it's going to be 24 hours until it's used it goes in an airtight container in the fridge, but we have to remember to take it out a few hours before it needs to be eaten because our cats won't touch chilled food ..... unless it's cheese!

Re: Where do you store your cat food?

I stick Maisies tins straight in the fridge with a p@h tin lid on, usually have two on the go for the day to chop & change. I don't tend to keep pouches as she eats them in a oner! She doesn't mind the non room temp either, although it's usually out a few minutes before she eats it anyway.

Re: Where do you store your cat food?

Open cans get stored in the fridge in an airtight container, and get taken out 30mins-1hour before Locke's dinnertime. In particularly warm weather, food is served soon after being taken out the fridge (just to limit the chance of the food going off).

Not sure why I leave it so long to "warm up"...probably because Locke likes to inhale his food if extra water isn't added, so I guess its just a precaution, really
